This Andean mountain omnivore is arboreal and it is in the tall rainforest trees that it finds most of its food.

These bears feed mostly on plants, moss, and flower bulbs. However, they have been observed eating insects, small mammals, birds and even hunting, and killing, large prey such as adult deer and llamas.

This is the only Ursidae family member to inhabit territories in South America. They are a docile but cautious animal, not territorial nor known to attack humans.

Just gotta love this peculiar bear, that unlike his relatives lives in trees and is mostly vegetarian.
