What are Red Pandas?

Red pandas (Ailurus fulgens) are fluffy,cute mammals that were once thought to be related to the giant panda. Genetics show that this is not true as they are allied with the raccoon and weasle families.

Appearance

These wonderful animals have soft,dense fur which is useful to them by protecting them from cool temperatures.

Where do they live?

Red Pandas live in the mountains of Nepal,central China and northern Myanmar.

Their habitat HAS TO have bamboo. Bamboo is 85-95% of their diet.

Diet

As well as bamboo, they may also eat fallen fruit for example. They can only digest about 24% of the bamboo they eat.
