As winter rolls in, the trees turn bare and the air gets cold. Being human, we have homes that provide us with shelter and warmth from this harsh season.
Unfortunately, not many animals are as lucky. Plenty of natural wild animals have developed ways of keeping themselves warm, whether it's through hibernation or their large and fluffy winter coats.
However, domesticated animals are more likely to take drastic measures to ensure they have a sheltered place to rest.
You may have seen animals, mostly cats, nesting under cars across your town or city. What you may not see is multiple of these animals worming their way into the car's engine from beneath, seeing as it's a promising source of heat.
While I don't have any exact percentages or studies on hand, I have seen, as I'm sure many of you have, a rapid increase of stories and videos surfacing of cats practising this dangerous behaviour as a desperate attempt to not freeze during these chilly few months.
Numerous of these animals have ended up injured or dead as a result, and while it may not be likely to happen to you specifically, it's still worth checking for.
So, as a rule of caution, be sure to check under the hood of your car before driving to avoid harming any critters that could be nesting there for warmth.
