It never launched, but for the fun of it i'll include the original text as well.

What?

A welcoming tavern where from any Ark can come to hang out.

How?

Casual RP style

Why?

To offer a welcoming hangout space.

To give em a taste of RP.

To guide them to other RP chats or whatever info they seek.

To have a sort of location for community events, such as occasional RP events, missions, mini games, and other activities.

This chatroom is created to offer a hangout chat for all kinds of players.

It's done in a light RP fashion, to inspire ppl to RolePlay more as many never experienced

RP before and find it a bit daunty to step into.

In this chat, you are simply your main character

that comes over to visit via the obelisk.

The hosts are the waiters of the Tavern.

You can tell them about the adventures you

had on your Ark, or ask for their advice.

There will probably be other customers to talk to.

The waiters can also direct you to other active

RP events or give info about the Amino.

This chat is not meant to replace other RP chats

but merely to give ppl a taste of RP and get them

started in the infinite world of RP.

It's also a form of having sort of a location

to have parties and other activities.

With a bit of imagination, it feels like we're

together on a server.

The pictures (especially on events) will help

to make it feel like your really there.

Do know that the hosts have lives too, so don't expect them to be doing full on Roleplays every day non stop.

Sometimes we'll just serve you a drink but can't hang around.

Other times we'll be doing great adventures together, so it really depends on the moment.

It's a welcoming place, and for those that want it, a hangout place, and to the community it's a location to be able to do things.

So do come in, and check around if the ppl in there are up for a long RP, or merely a quick greeting.

What is RP?

Roleplay is playing with others, creating your own adventures, but everything is in text and turn based.

Roleplay is like playing a brand new video game where you don't know what will happen but do have some influence on how the story goes.

RP the misconception

As this classic meme shows,

to ppl that have never RolePlayed before,

it looks stupid and rediculous,

but ppl that have RolePlayed before will

describe it as more exciting and adventurous

than most computer games, even many

hardcore gamers agree on this.

It's only after have 1 or 2 good RP sessions

that ppl realise how intense and deep it can be.

The adrenaline and thrills when coming up

with a good reply and adding to the story,

to then fall of your chair laughing at the

hilarious and original reply of your RP partner

are simply off the scales.

It's a rollercoaster of emotions and you'll be

much more connected to your RP character

than to characters you play in video games.

Don't let this scare you, but for those still unsure

that's what this chat is partly for,

so that you can dip your toes in this casual

RP Tavern and simply have an imaginary drink

with us host or other guests.

How to Roleplay?

It's not that hard, but there are a few important rules.

1) Format.

Usually this is Semi Lit Para.

Lit means literature, so we write like it's a book.

Para means paragraph, so no short one liners.

Don't use * for actions, just write it as a book.

Can use " around speech of your character.

Past tense for narrator parts, and present tense for what the characters say.

Wrong example:

*John sits down on that chair*

John says: "Give me a drink!"

Good example:

John walked into the Tavern eyeing the other customers.

It was only early morning but already John was in a bad mood.

Roughly he pulled a chair back and sat down.

Signalling the waiter he bellowed "Give me the strongest you've got, and make it a dubble!"

OOC and IC

OOC means Out of Character.

This refers to anything you type that

isn't part of the roleplay.

To avoid confusion, we indicate it with dubble ))

Example:

John gulped the drink in one go and wiped his

mouth with the back of his leather glove.

"That sure hit the spot!" he said.

((Sorry, i have to go, mom made diner. I'll be back in an hour to continue the RP))

2)No Metagaming

When you RolePlay a character, you as player know a lot of what's going on.

It's important to know that your character does not share the same knowledge.

For example, if your character was in 1 room while another character was in another room hiding a card under a pillow,

then you as player knows that the card is there,

but your character has no way of knowing that

the card is there and must therefore act as such.

3)No Powerplay

Only control your character.

You can only control the actions of your character, you can't decide actions of the

other player's characters.

It's important to see what's your action here.

Wrong action example:

John:

John grabs Sarah's hand and pulls her outside.

That a lot boundry overstepping right there.

Simply grabbing her hand is already deciding

on her action, (even if it might not seem as so)

but by you writing that you grabbed her hand,

you're already deciding actions of her character.

The other player might choose to let Sarah

pull her hand away, slap John's hand away,

or do something else, but Sarah's player

must get the chance to do so.

So back to the example.

Correct action example:

John:

John had enough of his wife Sarah's yelling and payed for the bill.

"Come on Sarah, you've had enough." he said and attempted to grab her hand to lead her outside.

Sarah:

As John grabbed Sarah's hand and started

pulling her along, she grabbed an empty bottle

from the table and swong it towards John's head.

John:

"Now come in dear..." John said as suddenly the

bottle smashed onto his skull, breaking into

many pieces.

John collapsed on the floor and was instantly

knocked out and dreaming like a baby.

As you can see, each player decided the actions of their own character, and gave the other player

the chance to respond to the situation at hand.

4) No God Mode

Use logic to determine the outcome.

If a Mammoth sits down on you, you're probably

not going to get out without any injuries.

If a giant boulder falls from a mountain, you're

not going to be able to stop it with 1 hand.

If you're diving without equipment you'll

need to swim up for air at some point.

We're normal ppl here, not super heros, so

let's use some common sense.

5)No Lore Breaking

Each Roleplay will list the specifics of their Lore.

Lore means: the rules of the world, the history,

the things that are and aren't possible in that

world, and other specifics of this world.

For example, if the Lore of the RP says that

no one in this world can use magic, then

of course you shouldn't make a wizzard Harry.

If the RP is about a prehistoric dino world without humans, you shouldn't be a Tek Tank, even if you claim that that indestructible Tank is a sentient being (we actually had that happen).

So check the Lore of the RP you're playing.

The Lore description of The Tavern chat will

be found below in full detail.

6) No Mary Sues

This doesn't mean the name, but it's a concept

in the RP world that implies 1 of the following.

A Mary Sue is a character that is either:

Perfect in every way, no flaws, no shortcomings,

no weakness, or simply way too powerful.

Having no flaws makes for a boring character.

Having no weakness or being way too powerful

also is boring and not fun for anyone else.

Do note that in RPs around super heros or

Anime based Roleplays it's normal to have

characters with superpowers, but even there

ppl use common sense, and you either start

low with base powers at low strength and climb

your way up the ladder (Ex: Naruto RP where you start as Gennin), or the RP might have a list

of what powers are allowed to be used.

Luckily in this Tavern it's all very straight

forward, we're regular Ark survivors.

Ok so those were the DOs and DON'Ts.

On with the real (imaginary) stuff.

The Lore of the Tavern.

You are your ARK main character.

Accessing the Obelisk, you notice

that it has a new location to travel to.

It's simply listed as "The Tavern".

Curious what this might be,

you decide to travel to it via the Obelisk.

Upon arrival you notice that this Ark

only has 1 Obelisk and you only see

Redwood trees on this landmass.

Close to the Obelisk you came from

you see a Tavern and walk towards it.

This is where you enter the RP.

Tavern Ark Lore specifics:

-Only 1 Obelisk in this Ark.

-1 big landmass, only Redwood forrest. (Except for a few tiny islands but that's still unknown)

-Apart from the huge Redwood biome, the rest of this Ark is a vast ocean, too big to fully explore by boat. You might find a few tiny islands by yourself, but you won't simply run into our islands by yourself.

-Prim+ and Vanilla are mixed here.

-Tek weapons and suit don't work here. You can wear the suit but it's abilities won't function.

-Can't bring creatures except for harmless pet.

-Taming of most species is disabled here.

-Everyone arrives via Obelisk from their Ark.

-No one spawns in this Ark.

-Only the Chat Hosts are Waiters.

-When no hosts are there, Gigantipethicus serves drinks but they don't talk.

-Only herbivores spawn near Tavern/Obelisk.

-Waiters accept Metal, Oil, and Pearls, as (imaginary) payment, but other forms of

payment can be discussed.

Metal ingots and Oil are worth 1 MI

Silical pearls are worth 10 MI

Black pearls are worth 100 MI

For those that want to ride a stead into the sunset on the beach.

There are a lot of secret areas, Easter Eggs, and mission event areas.

Obviously because they are secret for now,

we can't discuss them here (yet).

But we intend to take you along on some adentures during our events.

Some of those will be big events that are announced in advance, have a big plot story, and are done in group.

These include (new) areas that on other times aren't accessible without host.

We will also use this "location" for other gatherings, such as parties, mini games, mysteries, and other social interactions.

If you have ideas, games, or happenings that you think would be fun to do at the tavern or it's other locations, feel free to let us know.

We're always open for new ideas.

Misread the name as ‘Fawlty Towers’ at first. Lol. Any relation to that old show, or is it named after something else? Either way, great job!

Good name for the Tavern. Monty Python was a great group. John Cleese and Eric Idle are hilarious.
