What's your favorite thing about this piece?
I think my favorite thing about this piece is how well I executed the angle and proportions of his face. Considering I'm a cartoon artist, I think I did pretty well in that respect.
. . .
What's your unfavorite thing about this piece?
My least favorite thing about this piece is his hair. I don't think I did him justice in that sense. If I thought I'd go back and spend more time on the piece to made it look better.
. . .
Have you learned any new techniques when making this art piece?
I think I learned a bit more about facial structure just in of realism think this piece was good practice for me, and I enjoyed experimenting.
. . .
What did you enjoy most while working on this piece?
I like drawing his sweater and adding tiny dots and flowers on it think It turned out quite well.
. . .
Last question!
Would you change anything about this piece?
I'd probably change his mouth up a bit and fix the flooring by adding more lines to make it more realistic. Overall I could've spent more time on the piece as a whole for a cleaner result.

❛ How to match poses with character's personalities? ❜
Matching poses with character's personalities may sound easy, but it can be quite a task to some that are not masters at it. So here are some tips to help!
1. Understand Your Character
I repeat this phrase a lot in many help posts may sound pretentious or exudes a “well duh!” moment but it’s true. Understanding your OC’s personalities is key to getting a pose that fits them.
Is your character flirty, confident with a smug grin? Then give them a pose that extends those traits as leaning against a wall, arms folded. Do they possess a personality of which they are anxious, introverted, and clumsy? Have them drawn in a tripping scene or clasping their hands together, nervous of the situation.
Do they have certain traits that break and collapse when many situations do not work well? Or do they have characteristics that do not clash well within a circumstance that would be causing conflict?
Your OCs’ traits help you determine which pose matches with them, as they rule out other poses that do not match them.
2. Assess The Situation
Know the situation before you pick a pose. A character can change and adapt to a “certain situation” like how we do. Also, their personality may change and so will their poses.
For example, putting the “aforementioned” anxious, introverted clumsy character in their room. They will not get to be susceptible to nervousness as much as putting them in front of a crowd. They might enjoy their own alone space and become energetic!
3. Base References & Exaggeration
Getting references or looking through sheets may help you find a suitable pose to match the characters.
There are a plethora of them, and within a click on your device, you can find them to figure out the perfect pose for your characters! You can even look at other media such as fanart, magazines, anime, and such for inspiration.
And to get good at it, is to practice often in your free time! By practice, you can try exaggerating features and make the pose stand out that way it would be easier for you to figure out a pose that fits your character!

❛ How can I make my line art look softer? ❜
Lineart is a rougher aspect that many artists may struggle through in their artworks. Here are some tips that personally help me with softer line art.
1. Avoid adding pressure
From my experience, adding extreme pressure to the linear defeats the purpose of having a line art that looks soft.
If you are a traditional artist, I suggest doing your lineart with less pressure on the paper or use a pen that allows you to fluctuate between pressure sensitivity.
If you are a digital artist, I usually use the default pencil tool, turn the opacity down to around 40%, or use the “ehh this works” method. From there, you can start outlining your artwork and see if it is the softness you are trying to achieve.
2. Avoid sharper edges
Normally, sharper edges give the line art a sense of boldness and hardness, the result is the opposite of what you wish to achieve.
I suggest adding rounder curves instead of jagged lines to the line, it makes a big difference!
3. Experiment with different techniques
Nothing beats trying out multiple techniques and methods to achieve a softer type of line art. There are many tutorials, tips, and videos regarding the topic. So I am sure if you are stuck, you may refer to other online resources for help!
You can also mesh different techniques combined and see what kind of softness you will accomplish. Error plays a position in art. Generally it’s okay if you get stuck somewhere.
