ੰ WORKING WITH

LIMITED ART SUPPLIES

:sparkles: .﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀﹀. :sparkles:

Hello hello everyone! It's Tsu here with another article for you all. This time, I will be tackling how to work with limited art supplies!

This article will be more in favour of traditional artists that do not have the budget for supplies and artists that are unable to get the supplies they need due to different circumstances.

:cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud:

O1 : examine what you currently have

Take out all your current supplies and lay them on your table, desk, or bed (wherever you draw basically). Take a good look at them and know what their functions are. For example, perhaps you have some highlighters. Think about what highlighters do. What do they do? They highlight certain parts of something. They have the bright colours!

Examining your supplies not only gives you a basic idea of what you have, it helps you determine what you will do with the supplies in your artworks.

:cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud:

O2 : think outside the box/be creative

You may think having limited art supplies sucks, and it does indeed. However, although it has its cons, it also has its pros.

After examining your supplies, think of what you can do with those supplies. What can you draw with those supplies? What can you create? What concepts and ideas could you put onto the paper? Make use of what you have.

Let's take the previous example, highlighters, as the example for this section too. Here are some artworks I've created with only a pencil, eraser, pen and highlighters I own!

These are several art pieces I managed to make with only a few supplies that could be easily bought in bookstores and school sales.

Another example would be my recent artwork titled " stay "! Since I have run out of peach colored supplies and, due to the current situation, I cannot go to crowded areas, I had to improvise with how to continue the drawing.

With this piece, I've only used cheap marker supplies from bookstores and common stationery items. I used the concept and applied it with something new while still being able to create it with limited supplies.

Think what you can do with those supplies and let your mind flow with different kinds of ideas. This is also a great opportunity to try new things, experiment, and get out of your comfort zone.

:cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud: ∵ :cloud:

O3 : art is unlimited.

You do not need expensive supplies such as copic markers, nor expensive websites, applications, and equipment such as tablets and adobe photoshop to create artworks. You don't even need supplies big artists use to make good art.

You can make art with absolutely anything and everything around you, no matter how cheap they are. They're still supplies ready to be used.

You can have all the supplies and all the equipment ever needed to draw. However, without the creativity, ion and love for drawing, you cannot put out the artworks you want. Having expensive art supplies doesn't automatically mean you're a good artist, it only means you have the supplies. The body without the heart.

As someone who has had to work with limited art supplies from the very start of my art journey up until now, I keep going foward despite the lack of materials. I keep on drawing despite being aware of my art supplies. This is because having limited art supplies absolutely does not cut off my drive, ion, and the sheer love I have for art.

, even if you only have a pencil, eraser and a piece of paper, you can still make art. Art is unlimited to all.

That wraps up my article for this week! I hope you all can learn a thing or two, or find something entertaining to read ^^. This is Tsu, g out.

Toodles !! <3

This gorgeous piece portrays the emotions the character is feeling perfectly, with an organic pose and color palette. The muted colors on the background complement the character so well, making the piece easy on the eyes and just overall, a very aesthetically pleasing drawing.

❜ ─1.- What was your inspiration for this piece?

— 𖥸 —

Arlo represents me in more than one way and i wanted to show that everyone struggles with their emotions sometimes. I wanted to show that, not through an overwhelming vent art piece, but rather in a more subtle and easily relatable to a majority of people as i think that everyone, once in a while, has a cry which is a good and healthy thing:)─ ❛

— 𖥸 —

❜ ─2.- What is your favorite part of the piece? Why?

— 𖥸 —

I really love how the face turned out! I used to really struggle with making side profiles look decent and being able to show emotions through them, so when i was drawing this I felt myself improving with every pen stroke. I feel like when you look at his face, you can instantly feel what he feels and that was the point of the piece so I’m glad it worked out!─ ❛

— 𖥸 —

❜ ─3.- What improvements would you make to the piece?

— 𖥸 —

Definitely anatomy! That’s always a struggle. Looking back at the piece the pose is great and the proportions too, but it could look a lot better if I payed attention to that at the time. I would also look at the colour scheme of the piece again. I think that the one I ended up with works well but if i wanted to show the emotions arlo is feeling just a little bit more I could have used cooler tones to show that─ ❛

— 𖥸 —

❜ ─4.- Did you struggle with this piece?

— 𖥸 —

This is gonna sound sort of strange but I struggled with trying not to abandon it? I tend to start working on pieces and if I don’t like something I give myself a break and unfortunately that break never ends for me, so I forget about the piece and don’t come back to it for a while. here I really tried to break through that and even if I didn’t like a certain aspect of the drawing I tried to work through it and make it look good because I knew that once finishing the piece I would have another one that I could add to the gallery and it would also give me more of a sense of arlo’s personality─ ❛

— 𖥸 —

❜ ─5.- Any tips for the AAOC Community?

— 𖥸 —

You’re doing amazing! And just to keep going with your art even if you feel like you’re stuck. The more you work on it and the more you experiment, the more you will level up and learn:))─ ❛

───────────────

That is all for FOTW! Thank you to adoodlela for accepting the interview! to send a lot of love to them and their art! Thank you so much for reading! Peach g out!─ ❛

¤━━━¤°¤━━━¤°¤━━━¤°¤━━━¤

And that’s all! Hope you enjoyed, and we look forward to creating more interesting content for everyone (/^▽^)/
