❝ First Question. What First Got You into doing art? Where does your inspiration Come From now and who Inspired You to become the artist you are now? ❞
Sparks Response… I first got into art when I was playing World of Warcraft, in a roleplaying guild on the Moon Guard server. I kept seeing other guild with beautiful art of their characters, and I wanted to have some too! Unfortunately I was in high school at the time, and didn’t have my own income to spend on art commissions.
So, using my iPad that I had for school, I started to draw my own! I’d always been a bit of a doodler in class, but that was what made me really get started. Since then, I have really been inspired by character design and original characters!

❝ Second Question. What Art Mediums do you enjoy working with? What have you tried to work with but didn’t seem to suit your art style or preferences? ❞
Sparks Response… I mostly do digital art, and have done for years. I’ve gone a little bit into traditional mediums like colored pencils and markers, but I always come back to digital. My most recent branch into a new medium has been clay! I got myself a bit of Sculpey and started my first project a couple weeks ago, sculpting some simple cartoony rock/naturey characters.
I have yet to try painting them, but I’m very excited to do so! I think, though, my digital art tablet will always be my baby.

❝ Third Question. What is one of your biggest most favorite art pieces you’ve create and why do you feel like it’s your favorite? What made it unique to you? ❞
Sparks Response…I think one of my favorites so far is this tavern scene I did between my half-elf bard OC Monorri, and my fiancé’s OC Prince Darin’del. It was a huge step in drawing backgrounds and environments, which I’ve really struggled with in the past, and it was also one of my most ambitious pieces at the time. There are definitely some improvements I could make, but it’s still absolutely one of my favorites!

❝ Fourth Question. How do you feel when you’re experiencing artist block and how do you experience artist block yourself and how do you recommend other artist handle it? Any tips? ❞
Sparks Response…I often experience art block after I’ve finished a bigger or more challenging piece. It’s less of a block and more… I guess a period of fatigue. Sort of like you’ve been swimming too long and your arms are tired - my creative muscles need some time to rest after a big endeavor. Usually when this happens, I will set my tablet aside for a while; sometimes it’s only a few days, sometimes it’s longer, but the inspiration always comes back and I’m fired up for the next project!
As far as advice, the best I can give is “Don’t Force It.” This doesn’t apply to everyone, of course, but if you’re only doing art as a hobby, don’t force yourself to create when you’re exhausted. It’s okay to take a break and recharge your creativity! Unfortunately I know career artists can’t do this - you’ve gotta put food on the table somehow. In that case, I’d recommend finding something that inspires you and hold onto that - whether it be a story, music, or just looking at another artist’s work. These bits of advice might not work for everyone, but they’ve helped me, so I hope they can help someone else ^^

❝ Fifth Question. Do you have any advice or tips to share with other artist and beginners just starting art as a career or just a hobby? ❞
Sparks Response… For artists who are just starting out, I have two pieces of advice.
First, don’t compare yourself to other artists. Don’t look at someone else’s work and say “They’re so much more talented than me,” or “I could never be that good.” Everyone is at a different place in their artistic journey, and putting your own work down is only harmful to your progress. You should only compare yourself to yourself; look back and see your progress, and what you can still improve on.
Second, and somewhat related, “talent” can only get you so far. No one is naturally amazing at art! It’s a skill that every artist has to train and develop. Don’t get discouraged because you aren’t “talented,” it just takes time and practice and intentional learning. Sure, you can have a kind of natural aptitude for art, but that’s not what you see in your favorite artists’ works. What you see is learning, growth, study, and dedication. Talent isn’t the locked gate into art - the gate is learning and practice, and you have the key!

❝ Sixth Question. How would you describe your art style? Do you have a favorite if you have multiple art styles? If multiple which one best works for you and why? ❞
Sparks Response…There is a Venn diagram of realism, cartoons, and anime. My art style sits somewhere in the middle of that Venn diagram! I don’t think I have multiple styles, but I also don’t think I’m the most consistent when it comes to some things, mostly hair. I sometimes draw chibis, but not often enough that I’d consider it a style of mine. But all in all, my art style is a bit of a mix of those things!
•───────────────────•

•───────────────────•
❝ Seventh Question. What does art mean to you? ❞
Sparks Response…To me, art means creating something you love. Something that makes you happy, or sad, or just something that you’re ionate about. It’s an innately human experience, and a beautiful part of human expression.
•───────────────────•

•───────────────────•
❝ Eight Question. What are your art goals and aims of being an artist? Do you want to end up having a career or stay with it being a hobby. ❞
Sparks Response…I definitely prefer doing art as a hobby. I don’t do well under time pressure, at least with creative acvitities, and I like to have the flexibility to work on art in my own time! It’s something I enjoy, I don’t want it to become stressful.
•───────────────────•

•───────────────────•
❝ Ninth Question. Do you have any original characters? If so what can you tell us about them? ❞
Sparks Response… I have… quite a few  Getting close to 20 at this point, too many to talk about individually in a simple question response. They range from a young, bubbly half-elf bard to a grizzled, widowed war veteran, to an estranged nobleman’s daughter trying to become a knight. A lot of them come from Dungeons and Dragons campaigns and stories in those settings, and I’m greatly inspired by video games! I’m always happy to ramble about my OCs ^^
