AN: hope everyone had a happy holiday ~^~ I wanted to do a bit of a holiday themed spin off again, regular programming will resume day after tomorrow
”Broken..” Remus shook his shoulder like an excited child. “Broken wake up!” He rolled over and flicked his tail, nothing short of a natural disaster can wake Broken up. Well, for the most part. Oswald jumped up onto the bed excitedly, walking all over poor kitty. “Oi-“ Broken grunted and sat up, getting stepped on. “What time is it…?” “Like 5:30.” Remus was already scooting to the edge of the bed. “It’s Christmas time!”
”Its sleep time..” he laid down again. “You know the rule, I don’t wake up before 10…” “Oswald be a dear and drag him downstairs.” Remus smiled. Oswald wagged it’s tail and took Broken’s arm in its mouth, dragging him out of bed. He went limp and let himself be tugged out of bed. “I better get coffee outta this…”
Broken wiggled free of Oswald’s jaws and picked Remus up, taking him and the chair downstairs. “My parents should be here soon, then we can open gifts.” He hummed, wheeling off into the kitchen to make coffee. “Don’t you dare fall asleep!” Naturally Broken immediately went and fell asleep on the couch. He’s just a tired boy he needs his rest.
Remus’ parents showed up around 6, way too early for Broken’s liking. “Come in, come in.” Remus smiled. As much as I’ve never mentioned his parents they’re all well and alive. They know about the wheelchair thing and dating Broken, because those are relatively important, but they didn’t know about the dogs…
”Hello dear.” His mother smiled, leaning down to hug him. “Hi mom.” He hugged back. “Where’s dad?” “He’s bringing in the gifts.” She took her shoes off and hung her coat on the coat rack. Remus moved over and looked out the window, sighing playfully. “Mom that’s so much, you didn’t have to get all of that.” “We love you boys, we wanted to get you plenty of gifts.” She insisted, sitting on the couch. The one Broken wasn’t sleeping on that is.
”Wake up, we’re opening gifts.” Remus pulled his tail gently, going back to the door. “Ow..” he yawned and sat up. “Hello.” His mother smiled. “Hey mom..” Broken mumbled, twisting around to crack his back. His back issues are for another day. Remus held the door open while his father hauled in a garbage bags worth of gifts. “Dad.” He laughed and shook his head. “You two really spoil us.”
”Dont complain..” Broken wagged his tail. He’s a child he’s only here for the presents. “What about the dogs?” Remus settled on the couch, pushing his chair into the corner. “They can come down..” he said. “You have dogs?” His mother asked excitedly. “How many, what are their names?” “Small ones are Poppy, Flynn and Daisy, big ole pain is Oswald.” Broken stood up to hand out gifts.
The dogs all poked their heads down the stairs, hearing their names. Maybe they’re a little too well trained. “What are those?!” Remus’ mother jumped back. “The dogs..” Broken looked at her as if she were the crazy one here. He’s had them for months or even a year at this point, he’s used to them.
It’s easy to forget these are human-ish dog-ish amalgamations of mutated animals, not cute fluffy golden retrievers. They’re still cute though don’t get me wrong. Just in more of a monster high way than a Barbie way if you get me.
That did absolutely nothing to calm Remus’s parents down. “They don’t bite.” Remus tried to assure them. “They’re very well trained. Right?” He gave Broken a look that said he better prove the dogs were safe or being up early would be the least of his issues. “Yeah yeah they won’t eat ya..” Broken flicked his tail. “Come did you big dummies.” They all clambered down the stairs, settling by Broken’s feet. Except for Daisy, she sat on the couch with Remus. “Awww aren’t you a daddy’s girl.” He pet her head. Very much the texture of a frog, but less slimy.
His parents were still very much apprehensive, but can you blame them? If you saw whatever horror creature they look like crawling down the stairs and sitting in your sons lap you’d be scared out of your mind too. But they seemed to make Remus happy, so they tried their best to be happy about the situation.
Broken ed out gifts and they took turns opening them. Remus got a nice new scarf from Broken, his parents got… parent gifts… like frying pans and gift cards and stuff, Broken got a fancy new knife that he was told was for making dog food exclusively, no actual murder. Which Remus’ parents also don’t know about by the way. Just never came up in conversation.
They kept going around, opening presents until the only ones left under the tree were a few for Riva. Even if she doesn’t celebrate Christmas they still wanted to give her something for putting up with Broken’s shit all year long. Yes that means there’s going to be a second part to this I don’t want the Christmas vibes to be over yet.
