Chapter One

Drawn into a Void of No Return

The sky was black as midnight, as the full moon illuminated the essence of a forest—the spirit of fear. Branches tangled into each other, posing as a trap for any victim that happens to be wandering around.

I just so happen to be that victim wandering around. If only my stupid car didn't break down, I wouldn't have been in this mess-

Or so I thought.

I didn't know where to go or what to do. Not only was I lost, but I've also lost my senses. If I recall clearly, I was on a highway that was leading myself in circles.

I wonder how that happened- I swear it started happening when I drove through a tunnel and-

I looked around aimlessly.

I can't seem to find that tunnel back home again. How odd.

Plus, there's no service, so calling won't help. But good news, I did see some smoke in the distance, and it appears to be coming from a chimney.

I guess if I need a place to stay, I'll have to walk through that forest and pray that the person living there will let me stay.

The forest was cluttered and suffocating- except for an obvious path. Almost like I was forced to walk down it, I guess, that's what I did. I looked back, and it appeared the path I started walking on disappeared behind me.

The branches reached out from the lining of the forest and leaked into the pathway. It almost felt like those branches wanted to reach out to me. Grab my arms, legs, neck, and reel my hopeless body, so it can drown me in the woods.

The forest is thick, huh? Ha..ha..ha.. Wow! Humour- ha..ha.. I-I don't plan on staying there for more than a few days... ha.. ha

Upon reaching the house, I took a good look at it- and it seemed to be broken down. The walls are worn out, and the plants have almost manifested themselves all over it. But there was a bit of light through the window.

I peered through the window and saw the inside was the opposite of the outside. The interior was a complete contrast to the horrors of the exterior.

The walls were shining gorgeously. The chandelier reflected the light as the sparkles danced on the ceiling and walls, which amplified the room's beauty.

My eyes were then drawn to a young man inside. His hair was luminously black, and his features were beautiful.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone look so perfect. He appeared to be reading a book by a fireplace. How nice, he does seem lovely.

I knocked at the door and stepped back, waiting for him to open it. And eventually, he did-

"Hm?" He said innocently. His eyes widened slightly, and I suspected it was because no one comes here often.

"Hi! My car broke down, I'm lost, and I have no place to stay at the moment. May I stay here for the night? Would that be okay?" My words were rushed like they attempted to finish a race as fast as they could. It was embarrassing to have to explain my dumb situation.

Suddenly, the corner of his smile twitched- it was only slightly, so I paid no attention to it and continued to smile back at him.

"Of course, come on in- you're just in time."
