Forest - An AOT halloween story

the first story I wrote in AOTA .

Year 850

After the battle of Trost , a lot of trainees ed the Survey corps along with Eren Jaeger . As planned , the scouts decided to retake wall Maria using his powers and without any questions they wanted to complete the act as fast as possible . That's why they chose to give the scouts a tough training for one month , without any holidays . After they finished, the scouts would go for the expedition and will start their try to retake wall Maria .

On Halloween,  Erwin ordered that they had to go on a practice mission at woods to practice horse controlling in emergency situations at night  and much more .

As soon as the evening fell , the scouts left for the training . Their destination was the forest on the north of the scouts headquarters. The team was led by Petra . All of the 11 new scouts were behind her .It had been a while since the team entered the forest . The sound of horse nulls could be heard . The forest was getting deeper as time ed by . There weren't any animals spotted . Everything was pretty quiet and silent without the horse and cricket sounds .

Yawning , Connie looked at Sasha with a frown , "We are going inside , no animal , nothing , how will we practice emergency horse controlling then ?" . On the other side , Sasha , who looked more depressed than Connie leaned on her horse's head , "I am hungry already" .

"Oi , you two , focus on the mission ." Eren's voice could be heard from the front . Jean rolled his eyes at the two as well , "Sit up Sasha ! Stop being lazy ." Hearing Jean speak, Eren smirked , "Oh Jean , You started imitating me already ?"

"Hah ! Oi oi ! Me ! And imitating you ? Huh ! I would never imitate a suicidal bastard like you!" .Eren was about to reply to Jean's statement with a yell , Armin sighed and looked at all of them , "Guys c'mon , we should stop now ! Mikasa , tell them something! " .

The ravenette was riding her horse behind them , hearing the blonde speak , she came forward , stopping beside Eren . "Eren , calm down . Don't start a fight with Jean in the middle of the woods " . But as if the guy would listen , he started talking back again , "mikasa i did nothing , he is the one-"

"Did you guys hear about the Kikibara mystery? " , petra's voice grabbed their attention in no time . Raising a brow , Reiner looked at their senior , "kiki-bara ? What is that ?"

Petra turned at them , "Well , I don't know to be honest . I have never seen it , didn't experienced it before either . But I heard a lot of stories about it ." A curiosity started growing inside them after hearing the name , "Senpai , what's about this Kikibara mystery? " , the guy riding just beside petra , Bertholdt asked . With him , Sasha mumbled too , "why don't you tell us , Senpai ?"

With a soft sigh , Petra started speaking , " it happened years ago , when there used to be a shortcut through this jungle  , it used to be quick to reach the gates .In the middle of this jungle , there's a special space . The trees are so tall there that they bent and created a dense pathway . That place was called kikibara . Actually that place looks so beautiful.  But mysterious as well . Most of our missions occur in the daytime . Almost all of them . But that day , due to some emergency,  the scouts chose to go inside the forest .

The story was heating up the atmosphere , Connie raised his brows , "then ? What happened? "

Petra continued , "the scouts were through this forest as usual. After crossing half of the way , the scouts could hear a groaning . The head checked around them . Every scout was fine . Then who was groaning ?"

Reiner mumbled,  "It can be some animal … or maybe some pedestrian right ?" . With a nod the female replied , "that's what they thought.  They even looked around a little but didn't find anyone . So they started leaving . That's when the groaning went louder . As if it was coming closer . It sounded scary . The scouts looked around . Did a titan enter inside the walls ?

Suddenly they spotted a fog surrounding them . And then , a tall silhouette started coming out. Their face was coloured with blo-"

"Petra san , please stop , I'm scared." Krista's voice interrupted the story . " Why are you scared ? It's just an old story, Krista . Don't think it's true " . Agreeing to ymir's words Petra nodded to "Lenz , it's just a story . No guarantees it's tr-"

The group suddenly stopped talking . What was that sound ? Eren turned his head to look at everyone. No , no one was making that sound , rather they were the ones who were searching along with Eren ."Where did it come from ? " , in a shaky voice , Sasha asked everyone . "Isn't it a - groan ?"

- "Oi Berthold stop ! Why are you scaring others ? It might be someone -"Cutting Reiner off Connie stuttered , "that's what those scouts thought . I think we should go back "

Petra yelled , "Stop ! Ackerman , Kirstein , can you guys go up and check ? Just ride on that tree , I bet if anyone is groaning then that person will be around " . As The Instructions , Mikasa and Jean climbed up the trees using their gears .

"Can you see anyone ? " , Jean asked Mikasa after a moment . The girl sighed , "No , no one is in sight . But the groan is still coming " . Jean bent his one leg , squatting down on the branch, "That's what i- eh ! What's that smoke ?"

Others' eyes also moved towards the front . White smoke started surrounding them . Petra quickly instructed,  "cover your noses , they could be some medicine " . But soon they realised that there wasn't any gas or smoke .

That was fog .

Armin bit his lips , "how did this fog appear ? The weather was clear even a m-moment ago . Why is this place getting haunting? "

Hearing Krista's soft whimper twice ,Ymir barked at him , "What are you even trying to say huh ? That Kikibara incident is happening with us ? What nonsense ! " . Armin could understand the situation , maybe his words were scaring everyone but if it's some kind of dangerous thing then they should try to identify it . Armin looked up , didn't the forest look deeper ? The trees looked like an arc . What is really happening with them ?

Hearing berthold,  Armin looked in front of them. A horrible looking male was walking over to them . His face was coloured with dirt , mud , and blood . Creepers around his head . He was wearing a coat  , which was torn as well . The man's head was tilted in an abnormal way and the man was limping .

"Die … you all will die …. Uhhhhhhhh aghhhh…. Die ! "

Armin's voice was stuck in his throat , he somehow managed to turn towards Reiner . Even a strong guy like him froze . All he wanted to do was run away . " w-we should g-go ba-ack p-petra san " , Bertholdt managed to mumble .

That's when grabbing everyone's attention and leaving them dumbfounded someone got down from their horse and ran towards the figure .

Eren !

"Eren stop, it might be dangerous! " Mikasa yelled from there . She didn't know why , but it looked as if the ghost was perplexed too . After jumping down from the horse , Eren went straight to the person and punched them . "stop saying we will die, we didn't come here to die . "

Noticing Eren , Connie also got down and started punching the person , "you want to kill us ! Now you will get killed . Saying that , Connie went straight for the person's face . All they could hear was a "Gak-" , and the ghost fell down.

Connie looked down at the figure ,"he was so weak ! i punched him in the face and HE FELL DOWN BITING HIS TONGUE HAHAHAHAHA ", he laughed a laugh of pride while wiping his hands on his uniform. Armin blinked and looked at the body . "Isn't that something Ol- Oh my goodness is that Oluo san !?" . Eren scoffed at his friend , "huh ! Oluo san would not out like that Armin . "

"Yes he will . " , with a sigh Petra frowned."Hange san , Moblit san come out , we failed ".

Failed? All of them stared at each other . What was going on ? Meanwhile Jean and Mikasa came down too , "hange san , moblit san , why will they be here ? Were we getting pranked ?" , ymir asked them .

Hange and Moblit came out from the dark , "we burned the smoke tablets , did such a tough makeover , and Oluo failed the mission ." Moblit complained and sighed , petra ed as well " i am tired of his tongue bites . But at least those smoke tablets worked "

Hange then came out and smiled at them , "it's your first Halloween away from home . Plus you guys had to fight in the battle too , still didn't get any break . That's why we thought about doing something with you guys ."

Krista left out a nervous chuckle "Thank god …. I was really scared " .smiling at her, Mikasa bowed at hange as everyone else ed her , "thank you for all of this. " . Hange shook their head , "mhm , no need to do that . C'mon let's go back . Erwin planned a good dinner for us . Moblit , take Oluo in your horse , can you ? "

Finally packing up, the troops left for the headquarters . The group filled up with laughs as sasha started talking about her hunger . After all, it was a long day .

Little did they know that the fog was still there . That wasn't anything created by some mere smoke tablets from the start , but it was real fog. As the group left the jungle , two pairs of eyes kept looking at them . A male silhouette,  tall , face coloured with blood, groaning in a low tone….

Kikibara - that's what they called the place , his absence there was not appreciated, was it ?
