Hello and welcome back to Lit Team Tips!
I'm the Captain of the Lit Team, Caroline Mori, and today we've gathered up tons of advice and tips on how to write out ways of characters displaying their sense of humour and things of that matter!
Here we go!

First up we have some advice from Jean !
First off I want to state that I'm not really a comedy type of writer, so I'm just going to say what I believe should be done when writing it.
Most role-plays depend on what's happening, like if it's modern or au. If it's modern, there most likely wouldn't be a ton of comedy unless you're a character that has a more comedic type attitude. If it is an au, then there is more of a chance of being able to include comedy.
Comedy in rp could include your character saying jokes to one another, or doing funny actions. Simply telling a small joke is a good form of comedy in a rp. Don't be joking to the point where you seem annoying. Some people don't like to rp with people that are overly funny, especially if it's canon.

Armin has some good tips for ya!
First of all, when writing comedy try to use a character that is known for their comic relief within a work you enjoy, such as Sasha and Connie. If you do this then it is easier to make the character have hilarious responses, or do goofy actions without it seeming out of the ordinary. Now, with that being said, do not go overboard with silly actions. It could possibly cause some annoyance to the readers or other roleplayers, so keep the comedy spread out and know when the time is appropriate to include it. Also make sure to use descriptive words when you are making a character do a silly gesture. This will allow your fellow roleplayers to accurately visualize what your character is doing, and it possibly will help get that desired laugh from others that you want.
In addition, try to include jokes! Everyone loves a good joke, and sometimes even bad ones cause laugher. No matter if the joke is original or not, people will appreciate the thought put into it. However, like I stated before, if you crack a joke at the wrong time it won’t gain as much appreciation!
With all of that said, happy writing and roleplaying!

Learn about the rule of 3 with our third tip! From Ayumi!
Writing Comedy!
Tips you can use when writing humor? You can use the rule of three, which is a setup, the punchline and a funny idea.
You can Also use metaphors in your joke. You can pick out the funniest ones then make the joke.
Here's an example of how to do a metaphor joke.
Success is like fart, anyone can hold it in but it has to be let go. Or something like this My boss is like my baby, wakes me up every half an hour. Just make something funny that people can enjoy.

Milky has some good comedy tips!
Comedy, when role playing with this type of element I prefer roleplayers not to use a serious type character but more of lighthearted characters. Characters like these can be Jean, Connie and Sasha, also Hanji. Levi, Mikasa, and Annie are not type of characters you would like to use when having comedy in the roleplay. If you are using an OC, don’t use an original character with a serious personality.
When role playing with comedy, try not to be crazy. The character that you are role playing as should be funny, and crack jokes not being all wack and spurring our nonsensical words. Character who are funny, aren’t crazy.
A normal day in the headquarters. Hanji was walking down the red velvet colored carpet. As she turned to the corner, she saw a familiar person coming down. The brown-hairs brunette began to jump up and down. She appeared to be like a bunny happy to find a good of some sort on the floor. As she saw the stone faced, raven haired individual coming. Levi was reading a story and he looked up to catch a glimpse of her standing there. He then walked quickly and last by her but then she cracked a smile and shouted, “Hey Shorty!” The raven haired was quite annoyed just from hearing the voice of Hanji. He then stopped, swiftly turned around, having an irritated tone in his voice he then said, “What do you want Shithead?” Hanji then spurted our saying, “ Wanna hear a joke? Never mind it’s tearable !” Levi then turned around and quickly left Hanji and her horrible joke. The brunette then said, “ Well I thought it was funny. Oo! Perhaps Erwin will think it’s funny!” She then started to scream Erwin’s name from the top of her lungs.

Even our new member Josephine has some tips!
Hi! So, when it comes to comedy sometimes you want to just write the first thing that comes to your mind. When I role play, I tend to get so enthralled with the character I’m playing that sometimes I end up thinking like the character. For example, whenever I play as Jean, I think of snarky remarks. He likes to make blunt jokes that sometimes hurt a person’s ego- or at least tries to! (The pretty boy that wants everyone to realize his talent.)
Comedy is something that naturally happens in everyday life. Don’t think too hard about it because when you do, the jokes tend to be dry and overdone. You also want to avoid fandom jokes that are overplayed (horseface, halfface, etc). Mentioning them once or twice just to add a hint of fandom comedy is fine, but don’t place your comedic focus on the more well-known fandom jokes.
Finally, plan your jokes around the setting of your writing. For example, if you are writing a modern version of AOT, try having modernized jokes. (E.g. “You wish your brain was the size of a 5M Titan thumb!” Wouldn’t work in a setting where titans are nonexistent.) I hope these tips help! Good luck and to just relax and have fun! :)

With these tips, your writing will deserve an A plus!
When I am making an attempt at humor, I usually lean on callbacks. A call back is when you bring something up from the past that would be ed or recognized by the other people in the room. In my case, since I am best at 1x1 role-playing, it's either an inside joke that's been formed as part of my relationship with my RP partner or simply ing something funny that our muses did earlier in our writing.
With humor, I've found that simplicity is better. Simple jokes or call backs tend to come across more naturally, so I tend to write more simply when trying to portray something funny because I don't want it to get lost in other details.
The main key is knowing your audience/partner. It's also good to take the setting and type of roleplay into consideration when attempting humor.
It's bad manners to crack a joke when everyone is dying, unless your RP partner is into that heh.
:blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart:
And here's a tip of my own!
Comedy hah? Well, I personally am not the funniest person. Just ask all my friends.
When it comes to writing stories, I try to give almost every character a different sense of humor, as people do in real life. Some characters will have a dark sense of humor and laugh at misfortunes, while another person will cry at those same misfortunes but laugh at wholesome things; like laugh when babies laugh!
When a character finds something funny, make sure the audience knows it. Otherwise, they won't realize. So make sure to have the character laugh, hold in a laugh, or at least smile!
Along with having characters have a different sense of humor, that each reader has a different sense of humor as well! Not every reader will find the jokes in the story funny, sadly.
As I stated above, I'm not a funny person, so that was the best I could do haha. Hope it helped!
