It represents so many things.

The colour can also represent blood.

Nobody in particular likes this shade of red. The grimacing image it creates when spilling out of one's wound.

The sensation it creates.

The pain that peirces through your body. The gasps for breath. The constant and frantic attempt to stop the liquid from flowing. Tears running down the cheeks. The eyes scanning the last surroundings you'll see if you're unlucky.
