Jane was born to an Italian woman who was her mother who worked as a waitress in a bar in Marley and her father, a Welshman, who worked as a marleyan soilder. After her parents died, her and her brother, Sion, lived with their grandmother before enlisting in the Marley cadet Corps. Jane then went with Reiner, Bertholdt, Annie and Marcel to fight the Eldians and after 10 years and 2 deaths she remains in the war against the Eldians as a new Titan shifter called "The Hourglass Titan" her goal is to kill all the Eldians.

Jane was brought up and taught how to fight by her father when she was about 7 and had continued having lessons until the day he died. Her older brother Sion then took over and continued to teach Jane how to fight with techniques her father did not. A few years later her mother died due to a serious illness during the time she was alive and her father died for betraying Marley as Zeke exposed him a few months before. Her older brother Sion died the day she was suposed to marry Zeke and gave Jane the hourglass titan. She was 20 years old and she has vowed revenge on Zeke Jaeger for killing her older brother because of the forced marriage. She is now the owner of the Hourglass Titan. She possesses abilities similar to the powers of the Scarlet witch in general. However the titan gives her the power to see someone's past and future to see how their lives were and will be. The titan is obviously in the body shape of an hourglass. She can also see the future for everybody not just one person.
