The Sound of Dallas Band is not going through an easy time.

Our funding is likely being reduced even more. Our director is barely making ends meet for us, and he also injured his knee. Many of our instruments are in dire need of repair, and we can't get them fixed. The school board is working against us.

Worst of all though, a member of our color guard lost her brother Saturday. He was a freshman, age 15, killed in an accident. She was on the phone with him when it happened.

We all knew the kid, and it's hit us really hard.

We're struggling right now.

From my band to yours, please keep us in your thoughts, and if you pray, your prayers.

I'm not sure if it's against guidelines to link to the GoFundMe for his funeral expenses/financial help so his mom can take time off, so I'll just ask that you send us good vibes.

And please... Don't walk away angry with your bandmates. You never know what could happen, or what they might be going through. Your band is your family. Your band is your home.

Update, for those wondering:

The band has bounced back pretty well. The girl and her family are hanging in there and are better than they were.

The principal is slowly being forced into retirement because of just how bad she was for the school.

The band director is doing okay now.

The program still is broke, but a lot of people ed this season and are making the band better slowly but surely. I speak with the director on the daily (his alma mater is where I'm enrolled in college!) and he gives me valuable advice.

Overall, everything is gonna be a-okay. Thank y'all for the .

I am so friggin glad it’s steadily getting better!! Sure, as expected, recovery is gonna be slow, but this is just the beginning of a great band success!! :ok_hand: :smile: :smile:
