Lapis Lazuli

Recently I rewatched my favourite arc from Black Butler, the Book Of Circus arc and decided its finally time I designed my own oc dedicated to that small arc which I've adored for years now :)

Introducing Lapis!

She's an acrobat and contortionist, which was quite the new act in Victorian era England due to the origins of contortion coming from China and Mongolia in traditional ceremonies usually.

She is partially deaf as a result of exposure to Opium when her mother was pregnant with her, she uses primarily sign and writing to convey what she means, most people at the circus have grown to understand this yet mishaps still happen regardless.

Intresting facts!

-Lapis's birth name is Xue,Suyin.

-She has 4 older sisters, some of which who are married. Due to her running away, she escaped being married away at a young age and having her feet bound as per tradition.

-Lapis learned BSL when she started living in England, she is self taught from observation when traveling, she prefers to 'speak' via sign due to not being able to speak English very well, she understands the language more than she can speak it, as a result of this most people assume she is Mute.

-Her stage name 'Lapis' came from her favourite colours, blue and gold.
