5 Favorites and 5 Least Favorites

Here’s my post for the #weeklyworms

My favorite read of all time is The Song of Achilles. It’s a beautiful love story, raw at its core, and I can’t think about it without getting emotional.

Next is If We Were Villains. I didn’t expect much out of this when I picked it up, but I was absolutely blown away. The build up and tension was incredible, and I could not put it down.

A Little Life is controversial. But I loved it. It really was an eye opener to what some people are dealing with when it comes to disabilities. It’s rough, and I sobbed throughout, but it’s going to stay with me forever.

The Poppy War is a more recent favorite. It’s the perfect fantasy series in my opinion. A badass main character, and wonderful world building.

The Picture of Dorian Gray is my favorite classic because it’s queer and darkly romantic. The beautiful language puts you right into the story and it’s just so lovely to read.

I was only able to think of four least favorites, which I guess is a good thing!

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea was an unexpected disappointment. Nothing happened? There was no action, no drama, hardly any story. Bleh

Tender is the Flesh grossed me out so bad. Like I couldn’t even rate it because it was just bizarre. Like went off the deep end levels of yuck.

Brave New World was just okay. Compared to other dystopian works during that time, this one just couldn’t compare.

Before the Coffee Gets Cold was poorly written in my opinion. There were multiple grammar mistakes, and that’s not a translation issue. I’ve read other Japanese translated works with no problem. This one just needed some editing.
