hello! welcome to today's blog. this is in participation with the song of the week challenge.

I was inspired to write a poem. please enjoy<3🧚🏼‍♂

explanation ⁾⁾ ៹

I wrote this poem about the feelings of an artist/performer when the 'spotlight' doesn't last forever. the poem is written in first person perspective.

I thought that it correlated to the themes of young forever.

"even if the attention isn’t forever, I’ll keep singing"

I ed on a day like today.

the curtains would fall.

stood with my hands' loosened grip,

as if I held onto something.

maybe before, when I stood idley on the empty stage clicking.

the back of my throat it tightened, i tried to soothe it. the lingering aftertaste. its unpleasant.

yet i still ed on a day like that day.

as the curtains fell.

I stood on that stage reminicing the flashes-

of smiles that shone brighter than the brightest star.

I stood on that stage, I felt the goose-bumps laid upon my skin, hairs pinned straight. as loud screams erupt, you were singing and screaming with joy galore.

now that on that same empty stage my sight wanders past all of your empty seats.

somehow I'm afraid of it.

yet I try to hide from this suffocating feeling.

I try to hide from it. but I can't.

when all the loud screams disapate, it's quiet isn't it?

the empty seats are all of what's left behind.

I coax myself, saying "the world can't be perfect"

I've reaped what i've sown. the thundering applause, the goose-bump insued screams and flashing smiles. I can't own it forever.

"I can't own it forever?"

the me of today wants eternity. forever I want to be young.

I'll keep running for my dream.

under the petals raining down, as it touches asphalt.
