"Now promise me, several times a day,

Even if you feel alone, don't throw yourself away."

It was another stormy night in the city of Seoul.

Lighting lit up the sky in brilliant streaks of rich purple as the wind raced around in every direction, delivering a sort of frenzied madness to everything it came in touch with.

The sound of approaching rain echoed in the far distance, just where the skyline of the city dissapeared into the ocean.

The scene itself presented something cold and desolate to Yoongi, as he sat all by himself on his unmade bed, staring blankly out of the open window.

At times like these, when life gets so grueling, all he could think of was leaving all the responsibilities behind, and just fling his body out of the open window. So that he could fall into the impending darkness that lurked beneath, and never revive himself.

The only source of light in the dark room was a lighter that he held firmly between his fingers, lighting it up every alternate second, just to watch the yellowish blue flame dance with life, before the wind rushed in and put it off.

Isn't this what life is like, he thought, gaze still on the flickering flame. We are born with so much hope and potential, but then life rushes in like the wind and messes it all up. Tells you that you aren't good enough for anything.

And it all just dies from there.

Another flash of lightning crackled across the sky, followed by the deafening sound of thunder.

The floorboards outside Yoongi's room creaked under someone's weight, and soon, the door opened softly, the rusted hinges squeaking under the impact.

Yoongi made no effort to see who his personal intruder was, because he knew all too well.

It was always him.

No one else ever cared enough to visit him.

"Hyung?" A soft voice echoed in the hollow emptiness.

Yoongi didn't respond. He never felt the need too.

A soft pitter patter of footsteps came closer to him and soon he felt a dip in the bed, indicating that the person had already seated themselves beside him.

"Why are you sitting here alone?" Jimin asked again, the last word becoming muffled due to the endlessly rolling thunder.

Yoongi still didn't respond, just put of the lighter and tossed it somewhere near the bed.

Jimin immediately guessed something was very wrong.

It wasn't unusual for the older to remain silent since he was quiet and reserved by nature. But it was really rare when he was quiet in front of Jimin.

They had known each other for five years now.

"What's wrong hyung?" He whispered, silently placing a hand over the other's.

That did it all.

The tears that Yoongi had been holding back since forever came streaming down like a torrent and Jimin was quick to wrap his arms around him.

As if in sync with Yoongi's emotions, the nature outside finally let the rain loose. It started off as a soft patter against the concrete, but soon sheets of rain poured down without any restraint, it's sound echoing and rippling without frontier.

The pair stayed like that for a while, neither speaking a word.

When Yoongi's intense sobs subsided to small little hiccups, Jimin decided to speak.

"You are cold, hyung." He unwrapped his arms around Yoongi and went up to close the windows.

With the sounds outside diminishing, their erratic breaths were the only thing that Yoongi could hear.

"I feel like dying, Jimin." He suddenly blurted out and Jimin froze in the midst of lighting a candle.

Yoongi immediately flinched after saying that because he knew how the younger reacted to the mention of death.

"I know." Jimin simply said, after a long, awkward silence.

"Yoongi hyung, I was in your place a few years ago." Jimin sat cross legged in front of Yoongi, the flame from the candle casting gentle shadows across his features.

"I was so stressed with life that I just wanted to crawl into a hole and die. Or maybe dissapear from the face of Earth forever." He paused to take a breath. "I was so silly."

Yoongi simply sat there with his gaze on the ground as Jimin continued.

"And then one day, I finally did it. I fulfilled my own wish. I jumped off the bridge." Jimin chuckled at himself, though Yoongi could easily see the pain hidden beneath it.

"They cried for me, told that they'll me forever but after a while, they all forgot. I was forgotten. Just dissapeared from the face of Earth just like I wanted to." Jimin paused, and Yoongi wanted so badly to wipe the tears from his eyes.

But he couldn't.

"And I was standing there watching all of it unfold and I was like heck, this isn't worth it. If I was alive, I would do better than this. I realised what a grave mistake I had committed. When I saw everyone around me laughing, I realised I wanted to be there too. To smile, to touch, to love. I realised life was beautiful. And one bad day isn't worth ending it all. At that moment I wanted nothing more but to just live again."

Yoongi couldn't hold back anymore. He lifted his hand and tried wiping the tears from Jimin's cheeks.

But all his hands touched was air.

He couldn't touch Jimin.

"See, you can't even touch me." Jimin smiled, a sad one at that.

"Promise me, hyung, that you won't end up like me. Don't end your life, these little problems aren't worth it. Don't suffer like me, hyung. Promise me."

Jimin held out his pinky.

A beat later, Yoongi intertwined his finger too, or at least tried to.

"I promise, Jimin."

"I know I messed up but I promise,

I can make it right."

The poem written below is dedicated to my best friend.

I had written it way baaaaack in 2k17 and I'm not the poetic type so idk how this is. Maybe you all could tell me? :point_right: :point_left:

Also the poem is in Jimin's POV~

I still my first day at school,

I came in wailing and looked like a fool,

You held my hand and pulled me into a room,

You wiped my tears and told that it would be alright soon.

Guess that was the day I found a friend in you,

And I don't know why I was sure that you wouldn't leave me soon.

Maybe it was because love brought us together?

Time flowed on in it's own hurried pace,

We became from friends, to good friends and then to best friends.

I still cherish all the fond memories we created,

Stolen moments from the warm summers and winters desolate.

From swinging on birches during lonely afternoons,

To drawing childish masterpieces on our neighbor's wall,

We were always in the fun together.

And I knew it was love that brought us together.

Years ed by like a whirlwind of moments,

And I was too caught up in life to see that I had slowly drifted away.

Busy building my future skyscraper,

I didn't notice when our friendship got buried like burnt paper.

And like every good dream that comes to an end,

It was time for our happiness to give way to drear.

But the Earth is round, as they say,

And I know we will come across each other some day.

And when we do, hope you'll not say,

"Who are you? Are you someone whom I used to know someday?"
