welcome to my bullet journal starterpack
for the #bujostarterpackchallenge
in this blog i‘ll show you supplies i would recommend you as a beginner. I wouldn’t call myself a pro in this field but i try to do my best.
Disclaimer: All the supplies and items mentioned in this blog are in consideration of my own preference/style and experiences

1. the notebook
This is i think the most obvious thing you‘ll need. But i think with so many brands out there it can be a bit overwhelming to choose one.
I myself haven’t tried out the famous Leuchtturm journal. So i can’t really say if it’s good haha. But for the start you can use whatever notebook you want the price doesn’t matter same does the brand. Just choose one that speaks to you. (A little tip: pick a notebook with a simple design, just to be safe that you‘ll like it throughout the year)
For the grid i would recommend dot grid because it gives you a bit more freedom but square grid is just as good.
I myself wouldn’t recommend a lined journal because it makes doodling and drawing a bit more difficult.
2. pens
A pencil and ruler will help you to set the basic structure of layouts, when it comes to inking waterproof fineliners are the best because the have very dry ink (-> no smudging) but be aware that their tip wears down after some time.
Some examples: Pigma microns, Staedler pigment liner.
Gel pens have a rather long drying time but very smooth ink they’re my preference for writing. A little pro tip: Black ink looks very clean and professional.
Basically any pen will work just use whatever you like. Well anything but alcohol markers usually a notebook doesn’t have the right paper for those which causes ink to bleed through.
I started my first spreads with a biro and neon gel pens from primary school. Don’t be discouraged a bullet journal should help you plan and not create more troubles for you.
3. other stuff (stylistic choice)
As a fan of the scrapbooking style this my favorite section.
The most popular option is probably washi tape. It comes in a big variety of colors and designs. (You don’t have to buy the expensive ones) Owning one is a good start. But be careful it can turn into an addiction c;
I use gift wrapping paper and craft paper as well as any other papers or scraps to cover up mistakes or add an interesting background to the page.
You can also print pictures or polaroids from special memories to make your journal more personal). There are endless options don’t be scared to be creative. Decorating my layouts has motivated me a lot to use them.
For those of you who are afraid of drawing are stickers a good option to add fun little designs.
