Hello everyone! It's me Rain and I'm here today with a ~controversial~ topic.

𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥?

If you ask me, the answer will be yes. But let's dive in deeper than that, shall we? I am gonna use a method similar to San's post, a pros/cons method.

Why is it okay to stop using your bujo?

Ask yourself, Has your journal really been benefitting you?

If the answer is no, then stop fretting, kick back and relax. The whole point of a bullet journal is to help you, maximize your time and make life easier, if it's an extra "chore" On your mind, stop.

Maybe it won't be this way forever, maybe it will. But you'll never know until you take a break.

Tip: if you still want a way to keep track of tasks, maybe consider a pre-made planner. This way you can better judge what you want out of such a system and come back to your bullet journal if you want to.

.

.

Ask yourself: Do you have the time?

This topic is talked about a lot on the internet. And for a very valid reason, some people are just too busy for a journal. But then, again Do you really not have the time Or are you not MAKING the time? It's all about priorities in the end.

Tip:If you feel your journal has helped you but you don't have the time, try making it a weekly system rather than a daily one. This way, you will just have a to do list for the week and you can add tasks and dates as the week progresses.

                             Why you should consider continuing.

Ask yourself: Has you journal been unhelpful or have you not put in the required efforts?

It's true. Bullet journaling or planning in general, requires time, thought and effort. So if you haven't put in the efforts, it's not really a problem with the system. I know, this is a very raw truth, accepting that you haven't been doing enough but maybe acknowledging this fact will lead to a better, beneficial journal for you.

Tip: Try to use your bujo every day for 2 weeks. Even if you don't have tasks, do something with your journal. Keep it in front of you, on your desk or maybe doodle a quote. But USE it. And then you can better judge how you wish to continue with this system.

.

.

Ask yourself: Has your journal been unhelpful or are you unhappy with it?

These are two related yet vastly different . If you're not happy with a spread, it will NOT work out. You might think that it's a problem with the layout but maybe you are just unhappy with your spreads.

Tip: For this, I highly suggest a social media detox. Yes, the bujo pictures inspire you, but maybe they're also creating an unnecessary pressure on you to make your journal "aesthetic". For this, I also suggest talking to people here on BJA, because I feel you get ideas here instead of um, pre-made layouts shoved down your throat? Anyways, people here are awesome and they are always ready to help.

Really great post with excellent points. I’m trying to concentrate on using my Bullet Journal, over just making it pretty :) thanks for a great post!

I really appreciate this post. Thank you. A lot of people really miss the point of bullet journaling and only focus on the aesthetics and sharing their spreads on social media, and it becomes more like a performance than anything. I mean, if that makes them happy, sure. But if you're only journaling to gain social approval, you're not getting it. This is about yourself, not others.
