Hi friends!
When thinking about my ideal starter pack for bullet journaling, there are a few products that comes to mind. I tried to pick out some that might be more accessible, and not very expensive.

Notebook
First of all, for a person who is just beginning to dive into the sea of stationery and journaling, I recommend a slim journal. A slim journal will fill up faster, meaning you’ll have another chance to set up your journal in the very near future. You can use your slim journal as a test journal, and find out what you like and what you don’t like. Ring bound journals can also be good, because it’s easy to rip out pages you feel doesn’t work for you at all. So my ultimate starter journal would be this ring bound journal from MUJI. It is cheap, has dot grid paper, and doesn’t contain a thousand pages.

Black pen
A black pen is really all you need to make a bullet journal. I have many favorite black pens (or fineliners), but the ones I’ll recommend here are the MUJI .38 gel pen, and the Sarasa .4 gel pen. These are not magical pens. These are JUST LIKE ANY OTHER GEL PENS out there. Don’t be fooled into thinking you need an exact brand of black pen. You don’t. However, since it’s the pens I use the most, they’re in my starter pack.
Pro tip: Grab a pencil. I’m sure you have one somewhere at home. Use the pencil to sketch your spreads lightly before putting your pen to the paper. There’s less chance of making mistakes this way!

Brush pen and/or highlighter
It’s nice to add some color to your journal. In my starter pack, I’d like to include a brush pen in a versatile color. Therefore I picked out my favorite Tombow Dual Brush Pen, the 942.
Pro tip: use a ruler if you don’t trust your hand to make straight lines. Any ruler will do!

Washi tape
If you can find a decorative yet neutral washi tape, it’s worth spending $2-3 on it. My starter pack includes 3 rolls of washi tape - one solid color (to match the brush pen), one with a pattern and colors, and one black and white one. I really recommend Masté, BGM and MT washi tapes.
Pro tip: no washi tapes in your local stores? Check out the nearest art museum. Art museum shops usually have some washi tape!

I also included some paper clips to hold the pages of the journal in place. This is not really that necessary for ring bound journals, but it’s definitely necessary for bound journals!
And that’s my starter pack!
MUJI notebook
MUJI .38 black gel pen
Tombow Dual Brush Pen 942
Washi tapes from Masté and BGM
Ruler
Paper clips

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I am deciding to start a bullet journal this year and this post is extremely helpful! <3
How many pages are in the notebook? Can it be refilled?
It cannot be refilled, it’s not a ring bound notebook. You should check out Muji’s online store for information on the notebook ;)
