✑ What was your favourite experience this month? Did you have new insights? Did something in your life change?
I made a goal at the beginning of the month to find something I can do for self care that doesn't involve staring at a screen. Of course, I then realized that BuJo is that thing. I noticed myself turning to it after long days of work and using it to wind down before bed.
✑ What worked, what did not? What will you take with you to the next month?
I liked setting goals for different areas of my life each month, but my health goal was "go to the gym every week" so I didn't get to cross it off until the end of the month. I think I need a different system for weekly goals. I also found having both monthly and weekly trackers repetitive, so I'm going to stick with weekly.
✑ If you could do it all over again, what would you change?
Writing out habits in my daily logging. I kept forgetting what I did and if I'd copied it over already.
✑ Artsy or minimalistic?
Minimalistic. I'm working my way up to artsier spreads, but for now, I'm sticking with minimal ones that give me room to doodle in the margins. It's been ages since I've let myself draw and I need to get comfortable with that again before I move on to artsier spreads.
✑ If a beginner asks you about "how to Bullet Journal", what advices would you give?
Use whatever has worked for you in the past. A lot of my spreads were inspired by things I liked from previous planners, like the idea of a new daily goal every month, or laying out my focus for the day. Start wherever you're comfortable. If you're super artistic, making an art project of it might feel right up your alley, but if you're not, you can honestly just start out with lists and rapid logging and get more complex once you've eased into that.
✑ What are your thoughts on Bullet Journaling and Social Media?
I've already gained so much inspiration in the short time I've been on this Amino. I feel like it's a great way to motivate me to keep going. If it feels hard I can always go back to something simpler, and if I get bored I can change it up.
✑ How can a Bullet Journal mental health?
Oh man, so many ways! I'm training to be a therapist, so I'm working on some ideas for spreads inspired by popular therapeutic techniques and psychological theories. Sure you can do mood and habit tracking, but there's also thought logging (for intrusive thoughts), diary cards, trigger logs, self care, letter writing, and so much more. Think of it this way: anything you can do in a mental health worksheet or workbook can be done in a bullet journal.
