Hi Bullet Journalists!
I recently ed a post on setting up my August spreads, and I decided to create this tutorial post on how to do the star strings I used to decorate.
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Materials needed:

:book: Grey colouring pencil
:book: Drawing pencil to do markings
:book: Light pink and grey pens (I used the Crayola SuperTips in the lightest pink shade and the lightest grey shade)
:book: Faber-Castell PITT artist pen in S and M (you can use any fineliner and a pen that has a thicker point to the fineliner)

Version 1
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Step 1:

Using a drawing pencil, start by drawing curved lines across the page. When drawing the lines, make sure that each line is crossing with another line- it makes it look more dynamic and nicer :relaxed:
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Step 2:

Using the grey pencil, go over your sketched lines for the star string.
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Step 3:

Using the M fineliner (or a thick til pen), draw dots along the lines. Try and create patterns for example: 2 dots, then 3 dots and 1 dot. But make sure to leave a gap between the set of dots so that we can add the stars in between them.
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Step 4:

Now, I’m between the gaps of the dots, add the stars. I’m actually terrible at drawing in general but this is how I drew the stars, but of course very small :joy:
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Step 5:

Once you’ve drawn the stars, using the light pink SuperTips, draw dots around the stars and grey line. Something I did was that I drew a curved dotted line to get that effect. Don’t add too many dots, otherwise it’ll make it look cluttered.
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Step 6:

Now with the grey SuperTips, do the same thing as you did with the pink pen.
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Final look:

Version 2:
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Step 1:

Star by drawing a straight line across the page, making sure that there’s enough space to draw the hanging star string.
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Step 2:

Now sketch lines going down from the line we drew across. When drawing the lines down, curve the lines amongst itself. Also you can add single curved lines to give some variation. Now go over those lines with the grey pencil.
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Step 3:

Now you’re going to do the same steps you did for version 1. First add the black dots, then the stars, and more dots using the grey and pink pens.
:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
Final look:

:leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves: :herb: :leaves:
I hope this was helpful, and if you have any questions, comment down below :relaxed:
