”LAURA?! WILL?! WHERE ARE YOU?!”
I quickly rushed into my home. My family lived in the woods. Me, my wife, and my son. But I didn’t know if they were there. Upon entering my home, I quickly noticed the multiple scratch marks, the holes in the walls. “No!” I yelled out. “LAURA?! WILL?!” I yelled out once more. No response. I searched frantically for them. I opened the door to the bedroom. I stopped, and my arms fell to my sides weakly. “No...” I weakly let out. I fell on my knees. My wife and son.... They were both dead... Laura had been decapitated with multiple claw marks all running through her body. My son will, had claw marks all on his body as well. Blood was on both of them. I stayed there, and cried for a very long time.
(FLASHBACK)
“What will you hunt today dad?” I heard the voice of a young 10-year old boy. “I don’t know Will,” I said while loading my double barrel shotgun. “What would you like me to bring?” I asked. “I want... I want to eat a deer today!” He cheerfully said. “Deer it is then...” I said. I grabbed my shotgun and began to head out. “When will you be back?” I heard the voice of a kind and very innocent woman. “I’ll be back before midnight Laura. I promise.” She nodded, and watched as I left.
Many hours have past. I’ve still haven’t found a deer anywhere. “Must be a bad day today...” I continued pushing forward. It was almost night. 2 hours have past. It is now officially night. I was about to start heading back when I suddenly heard the unmistakable sound of a deer. “There you are.” I quietly whispered. I approached towards the direction of the sound.
As I got closer, the deer had made another sound. This time however, it sounded as if it was in pain. I went closer. As I approached, I heard the sounds of something viciously eating. From behind a tree, I saw a creature unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. I stopped dead in my tracks. What the hell is that? This creature stood on both hind legs. It was hunched over, had sharp claws, and had almost an appearance of a wolf. It must be a lycanthrope. The deer was still alive somehow, but it couldn’t possibly have the strength to move. It’s underside was torn open, and in the beasts hands were the deer’s organs. The deer was constantly crying out for its life. And then it stopped making noises. It had died of blood loss, and the fact that it was missing multiple organs helped for that. I started backing away, but in my retreat, I had stepped on a small pile of twigs. They cracked under me, and I once again stopped moving. The beast had heard me, for when I stepped on the twigs, its ears had moved toward the direction of the sound. The lycanthrope had stopped eating and turned towards my general direction. There I saw it... This thing was missing its eyes. The claw marks around it gave it away. It also had multiple scratches and cuts all around its body. It stood up and began moving towards me with its hand extended out. I dared not move. Any sudden movement would’ve given away my position. The only thing I could do was hope it didn’t smell or touch me. Suddenly, the sound of a bear attracted its attention. Its ears moved towards that direction, it stood up, and went towards the direction of the bear. I took the opportunity to run.
“This can’t be real. This can’t be real!” I had found myself saying. I didn’t know where to go except for home. But during my run, I had bumped into a deer. The deer made a very loud cry. “No!” I shouted. Surely the beast far behind me had good ears. Such is the way with wolves. But the fact that it was blind meant that its hearing abilities were improved as well. No doubt, it had heard the cry. Within moments I heard a most horrifying howl. I decided to quickly hide behind a tree. Within a couple of minutes, the beast was in sight. It was searching for the deer that made the sound. I moved my head behind the tree I was peeking from, only to come face to face with a deer that was too close. For a split second, a startled sound came out of my mouth. The lycanthrope had heard it too well. Within moments, it howled it’s terrifying howl. I went to look at it, but the moment I looked, it wasn’t there. I turned around, and found that the deer that was there, was slain, with the lycanthrope looming over it. I brought up my gun, and shot it. Upon feeling the impact of the bullet, it roared. I began running away. That was a grave mistake. The werewolf, having heard me, quickly ran towards me. I was hoping that its blindness would serve me well. It didn’t. For a creature that was blind, it had an excellent sense of direction. Before I knew it, I was on the ground with a searing pain in my back. It had scratched me with its claws. As it growled while approaching, I thought for sure that my life would end right then and there. Then, through the growls of the demonic beast, I heard another growl behind it, almost as ferocious as the lycanthrope’s growl. The bear it had chased had returned to return the favor.
Surely the bear could do something. It was a grizzly after all. They were on all fours and circling each other, growling. The bear then stood up, and roared at the lycanthrope. The lycanthrope wasn’t at all intimidated. It stood up as well, and made a sound equally as vicious as the bear’s. The bear then charged forward and went for a swipe. The lycanthrope, relying purely on its instinct crouched under it. It jumped back and charged forward at the bear. The bear was instantly on the ground with the jaws of the beast biting down on its neck. The lycanthrope then pulled its arm back and thrust it deep into the bear. The bear was instantly slain. The lycanthrope then pulled out what I presumed to be its heart, and began consuming it. It howled in victory. The pain on my back was too much for me to handle. My eyes were beginning to close. Just as I was about to out, I heard a large sound in the distance, a heavy object falling. I knew that sound too well. Within moments, the lycanthrope went off towards that sound. The sound that came from my home.
Hours , and I finally woke up. I looked around. No animals in sight. I listened. Silence. I looked at the floor. The bear was there slain. I instantly ed where it went. “No. No, no, NO!” I shouted. I began running to my house. The lycanthrope went that way. I had to keep my family safe, by any means necessary. Upon returning, I found that my home was damaged. The door was torn off its hinges, the walls on the outside had scratches.
