Magnets-Niki Poem

I look in the mirror and like magnets, my eyes are attracted towards the negative.

The glass distorts what’s really there.

What others see.

What I see.

Parts that stretch should be squished.

Things that push should be pulled.

Places that fold should be frilled.

I take things that should be in me,

Out.

I put things that shouldn’t be,

In.

I tear up my insides so the outside can be beautiful.

All for the sake of attracting magnets that aren’t my own.
