In a land far from many, a home for both the beast and the mythical. Lands ripe with both magic and spiritual might yet those who live in these lands spend their days living to their fullest. Such places that exist were a home for great monkeys who strive for both strength in body and spirit, proving their worth to themselves. One of these creatures, a curious thrill seeker, clad in ebony fur who happily lived among their own. She kept to herself but was always happy with others to see them grow but never felt that same need as her peers. Even with her choices, many found her as great company, even finding herself a companion who strove for art. She felt a sense of homely comfort being where she was but something in her yearned for adventure, like something in her spirit longed for a sense of self worth.
On a bright, sun filled day, the young monkey would gather her things and make her declaration. “I will become strong my own way!” As she shouted her little monkey heart out to her own, the others cheered as they happily bid her farewell even if her companion pleaded her not to go. She only told him that she will return but when she finds her own strength, something she can proudly call her own. “Do not weep, I will carry you each day.” With a comforting goodbye, she carried her things and made her way beyond the lands she called home.

Her days were spent traveling, meeting many beings on her way as well as finding those who challenged her. “I am no fighter but I can still fight!” She claims, clashing with her encounters only to see they respected her spirit. Some would go their way while others guided her to new lands, meeting great cities and lands of grand spectacle. Temples loomed over the land, statues reigned, soldiers watched over and the people who roamed were many. “So much but how is the food?” Like the beast she is, the monkey swung and crawled throughout these cities as she took in everything, devouring what she either would buy or take when no one was looking.
Even with her curiosity hitting great peaks, some would tell the curious monkey about one land that forever burned. “Once a land of companions, now burns as a land of demons waiting to be defeated.” Stories from her elders would say demons were ripe for one to become strong, a way to become mighty through strength. She was like that of a child, begging for a way to go there. “Seek where the lands grow dark for the fire burns the brightest there.” Overwhelmed by excitement, she thanked the guides to such a place as she continued her journey. A journey now filled with perils more so than her previous journeys, beast mightier and more fearsome than before. They continued to pour in, the monkey striking down many but more continued to march as she was clashing with the many they arrived. Dragons, greater beasts, spirits, avatars, monsters, and soon, demons began to emerge in the monkey’s gauntlet. Another fell to the monkey till she would climb the remains that piled before her, reaching towards a light as she would see the great fires she was told to find. She reached her goal and soon was her next step to become stronger.

As she climbed to the tops of the trees that reached above the smoke, beings gargantuan stood and beings flew and marched across the skies. Without asking, she swung from the branches and latched onto a flying spirit who would angrily shout at her for suddenly grabbing onto them. “Do I look like a horse? Go away, monkey!” With a snicker, she was thrown away as she was flying through the air and through the wispy plumes of smoke as she used those who flew as a means to swing and climb despite their complaints. “Away, monkey! How dare you besmirch my beauty! Leave me be!” They all protested yet she continued on, some being idle while others moved about their merry way. Regardless of their anger, the monkey knew why she cared little: This was the home of demons.
“What makes you think you may do what you like?! You are but a monkey!” The demons barked and cried out, she was moving about her merry ways while soon they began to confront the obnoxious monkey. One would grab her ebony scruff before tossing her to a mountain, surrounding the lone monkey yet she bounced in place with glee. “But you are demons! Demons do not idle by, they seek to fight and destroy!” She jabbed at their pride, haughty demons who found themselves superior over others as they snorted against the monkey’s disregard. Many began to surround but soon a cry was let out, the very demons began to move away as a larger, prouder demon stepped forward with many lesser demons surrounding him as well as a dragon with shimmering red scales began to face the little monkey. “She speaks the truth! What kind of land known for being a home for demons sit idly by!” He knew what she meant, the fact that many just sit idly by and waste her days being prideful and empty. They are born fiends yet sit like they were heavenly shrines that must be worshipped, it was what the monkey questioned. Soldiers who marched the skies began to make their way to the mountain where the monkey stood, great beings marched through the wispy smoke as they were clad in fire and gold would make their audience with the little monkey. “Who are you for being able to cause such a rowdy entrance?” She huffed her chest, being boastful as she gave introduction to who she was. She was but a monkey from a far away land who wanted to become strong, something that many thought was foolish but few understood. The monkey was welcomed to the new lands but many only see her as an outsider who should be banished.
“Do not heed the tongues of many for they remain fat with pride.” The red dragon slinked her way near the monkey, explaining about how many demons solely exist just to have their very feet kissed and showered with empty gratitude. The dragon told the monkey that the lands always remained peaceful, trying to find something to enjoy yet she too was always scolded. To find someone like minded, it felt like a breath of fresh air while she remained in the large proud demon’s shadow. He simply drank from his ornate barrel while the lesser demons remained beside him, cheerful and loud but the monkey heed no mind.

The days went by and the monkey was mischievous towards the demons, riddling her with empty threats and weak boisterous attempts at revealing their presence. “Do you seek death, monkey?!” In retort, the monkey would just slap them away with her tail or give them a quick slap with her feet, mocking them as the demons would flee to the beings clad in fire and gold where they would demand the monkey’s banishment. “She insults us! She makes a mockery of our people!” They cried out yet they were sent away, seeing that the monkey was constantly challenging their worth but none would step forward. “If you find offence, challenge her… Or are you such cowards?” The demons backed away, now the very lords who stand over the lands questioning their worth. The proud demon overhearing the cries would only laugh at their failings while the monkey simply went about the burning lands as she would clash with monsters roaming the smoke like they were simple play things. The dragon ed on occasion but the monkey was always off on her own, striking down monsters but soon the demons would confront the dragon. They were tempting one or the other but the monkey always snorted at their offers, mocking their attempts as she would be on her way. The dragon seemed to be with the monkey but oftentimes would go off, being with demons who always were against the monkey. “Why bother with her? She does not seem to mind you.” It was there when the monkey would show and see what her dragon friend was doing, telling her about her journey and how much she did miss her home but still enjoyed her trip.
Days and nights , the monkey would meet others to her side such as the white wolf and the dreaming sheep. Many came to her side, many of beasts while some were demons wanting to be like her or be just as mighty. As they gathered, many of the long-time demons became more hostile, seeing more beasts and creatures amassed while the proud demon grew indifferent but seemed to gather what looked like an army. More of these mystical soldiers began to march the lands but the monkey and her friends kept to themselves, avoiding things till one night around the great pillar of fire was where the lords of fire called for her. “Little monkey, we ask of you. Will you carry the will of fire and watch over the demons?” It was sudden, the monkey was dumbfounded by the fact she was given this offer. Regardless, she agreed as fire dressed her body and a blade appeared in her hand. She was given a duty to watch the lands of fire, stand amongst the local masses yet those demons only sneered and mocked the monkey.
“She is a fool! She only arrived! I am better! I am better!” They would bark out in protest once more, rejecting the monkey and her position. With many protesting, she merely hissed as she was roaming the lands being the proud watcher and guard of the land as her friends stood by her as they felt proud. Even with the many parading her about, the red dragon slithered away and returned to the proud demon. “See? She doesn't care about you.” The red dragon merely festered in anger, going off as the monkey was celebrating her accomplishments within the lands.
⋆༺༻⋆
Days became years, the masses were now many and the monkey continued to live with her sense of justice. She enforced the lands, with a blade of flames in hand and a grin of confidence over everyone. Even with her new found capabilities, she was with her crowd even with the white wolf gaining such a blade at some point while the dreaming sheep gathered the demons under her song and dance. There was order brought by the monkey and crowd that followed yet the demons only resented everything they brought, scheming away and threading the lines that the lords brought down. “Why would we listen? We are demons. Her words mean nothing.” The monkey would continue but they would not listen, forcing the lords to look for their own to bring in. It was there that the proud demon took the blade, a clear grin crawling across his cheeks. It was there when the dark days began to fall, the monkey slowly being shunned by the lands and soon, her own friends began to be rooted out.
“They are not welcome. They are not welcome. They are not welcome.” It was the new gospel, the demons chanted each day. The monkey would continue her work while her friends lived yet they were soon berated by the demons they helped. “Get away from me, leave us at once!” The air continued to become tense, filled with uneasiness but it did not stop the monkey. Even as the days grew harsh, the monkey would soon confront the proud demon as he loomed over the white wolf. Those mystical soldiers, now carrying fire the monkey, the white wolf and the proud demon would carry. “Stop, what are you doing!?” The wolf was struck, the monkey ran to his side as she drew her blade. The proud demon simply huffed as he took a drink from his barrel, keeping his blade in its sheath. “He broke the rules, he needed to be punished.” The wolf slowly rose to his feet, his head lowered as he put down his blade and began to walk away from everyone. “Where are you going?! What are you doing?!” The monkey cried out but the wolf held his tongue, leaving his duty behind him as the proud demon huffed his chest and took the wolf’s blade away.
“What are you doing?! I thought you were lords!” The great lords would sit in the smoky plumes, keeping to themselves as the monkey would tell them of rules breaking and the proud demon pushed some kind of rule over the lands. “Why are you not doing anything about this?!” Her answer was silence, they spoke nothing and simply began to move away from the monkey who would cry out. Now angry over what happened, the monkey drew her blade and rushed for one of the lords only for them to flee as she was left alone with the pillar of flames and the laughter of the proud demon echoing throughout the lands. She had to speak out, she wanted to tell the truth but when she gave that truth, no one listened. “It could’ve been anyone. What proof do you have?” The demons sneered, mocking the monkey but she just gritted her teeth. She would flee, finding the dreaming sheep as she was getting away from the demons who would claim the dream giver like she was treasure. “They are liars, dishonorable and now they hide behind the proud demon like he was their king.” The monkey spoke out, the sheep listening to everything she told as she could just comfort the angry monkey. They both felt awful, realizing that this place was not what they believed. “I came to these lands to see what the world has to offer, finding more about myself yet I learned that we are but their playthings.” The monkey grew angry once more, the seeds of hate slowly planting in her wild soul.
“You will pay!!” The disgraced wolf was trying to hold back the monkey as she was trying to lash out at the demons. She was disgusted by their ways, how they viewed others. The monkey broke free from the wolf, knocking away demons as she focused on the proud demon. “You are no one, especially to a king.” The proud demon ridiculed the monkey, declaring himself the king of demons as the monkey was about to strike the demon down. The blades of fire grew, the armor now a raging flame but as she would strike the demon, she was casted down to the mountains as the red dragon loomed over. “You are no one.” Rage swallowed her, the monkey saw the dragon now on the side of the demon king as she knocked away the soldiers that began to attack. The monkey would fight through the armies that approached but the demon king would step forward and deliver a single blow. She was brought down, her friends helping her back to her feet but they would soon leave the lands as the monkey was outmatched by the demon king. “I am not leaving! I will defeat the demons!” They disobeyed their friend, the many who sided with the monkey would begin their leave from the lands of fire where the demon king would rule.
⋆༺༻⋆
The journey was long, the monkey hurt as her body was burned from the demon king’s strike. She wanted to go back and fight but they knew she would die if she tried to fight him. “Just stop it. There’s no point.” They all begged her not to go back, each one worried about her but she would screech out in rage till she would sit in defeat with everyone sharing the rage and sorrow. The dreaming sheep explained to her that she should not waste her time on such measly squabbles and move on, that she should live for everyone’s sake. The white wolf and many others agreed as they would spend the night together out in the starry fields far from the lands of fire. “... I do not want to be weak.” Even with many there to ease her woe, her pride was still wounded.
Everyone would share their farewells, many going with the white wolf while others would go their own paths. The monkey would grit her teeth in rage, throwing her flaming armor and weapon away as they would just remain snuffed away across the dirt. She did not want to say good-bye, turning away as she walked away from everyone even when they all called out for her. The monkey began her travel to the only place she knows yet has nothing of accomplishment to call her own. She kept to herself, fleeing from monsters or enduring a beating as her drive to fight was snuffed out.
She was hurt, cold and starving from everything that happened since her departure from the land of fire. She did not stop at any city nor any place to rest, the monkey simply continued to travel till she was home. Days ed by her, like a lifetime went by but she was finally home. “Where is everyone?” The tribes of monkeys were smaller, few were about living their days but none saw her as one of their own. She went to her family tree, finding her own tribe but as she was there, none were waiting for her. The tree was desolate, leaves crumbled and bark splitting. None of her own family was around but she wasn’t going to stop till she found someone. She hopped about her home, searching till she soon found her companion. He was sitting by a lone tree that overlooked a river, painting what he saw before him. “You are still here?!” The monkey met her companion, showing her affection yet he would step away from her. “You decided to ?” Her soul sank under the ashes left by the land of fire, begging her companion a reason for his decision. He explained about her family falling out, her parents deeming her an outcast while everyone else began to go at one another’s throat before they soon casted him out of the family for not being with her when she wanted to leave for her adventure. “They are gone because of you.” As he said this, he would gather his things and take his leave, leaving the monkey in her despair.
⋆༺༻⋆
Her home was no longer the same, many gone and the few remaining were either elders or none with purpose. She would travel away, turning her back from what was her home. She traveled to the shores, a dreary place where none wished to be. There was no danger, no joy, it was an empty place. She climbed the rocks, her sorrow guiding her paws through the grey. The rain was not harsh but it was not light, it simply fell and drenched her ebony fur. The monkey reached the top as she was watching out towards the dark oceans, the seas raging yet her mind only showed her failings of everything that happened. Her home was gone, her adventures were met with failure and she turned her back towards those she met and the only person she loved did the same. She had nothing left, she was alone after a fit of rage and pierced pride. “What else is there?” It was there that she began to walk her way closer to the cliffs where she would stare out to the heartless seas, taking one more step so the dark below could take her.
She awaited the cold, merciless end but it was suddenly quiet. The monkey would open her eyes as she would look around where she was, a vast darkness around her but there was a colorful floor under her. It was cold and damp as a faint song was played. The monkey rose to her feet where she was walking along the colored grounds, feeling the mix of pebbles and water as she reached where the music came. The monkey looked up as a pile of stone was towering over her where a girl rested, strumming a lyre till she stopped to look at the monkey below. Even with her eyes hidden behind her pale white hair, she grinned at the monkey before she was now behind the shaken beast. “What is this now? You, with the furled brow.” The girl leaned down to the monkey as she was watching everything about her, first her ebony fur and golden eyes to the very spirit within her. “You are hurt yet you have rage. What is this? Maybe a new page?” She looked at her still, reading everything about the monkey as she saw something about her that seemed like wanting another chance. “A monster, a beast, a demon? From what I can see, you were brought to a sermon. You revel in your pride but you were met with something greater, how about I show you how to be a bit more mightier?” The monkey was trying to make sense with what the girl said, looking up to her as she was now floating over her like some kind of spirit. The girl kept her mischief-filled grin as her finger landed on the monkey’s forehead, a fire dragged out from her mind till the girl flicked it into the darkness. “You wanted to go yet you still have that flow, a raging fire but you need that pyre.” The fire made the grounds alight as the monkey stood up, watching a path of rage form before her. It called to her, the monkey hobbling her way through. “You do not want revenge… You seek to go through a much further range…” The girl tempted her, showing her something she wanted but it wasn’t so much as a deal but to give her something that rested deep within her. She didn’t want anything from the monkey, she wanted to see what she had. “Why help me?” That was where the girl pondered, thinking about why she wanted to help. Gently moving about like she rested amongst the clouds, the girl let her mind roll as the shadows behind her started to rise like statues. From the darkness, figures appeared as they all stood with various postures. They all gave a presence that defined who they were, from those who weave magic to warriors who carried strength like beasts but they all shared the same thing. The girl would then give a shrug as a fire formed over her head, a crown of flame revealed not just on the girl but those who emerged from the darkness. “Devils love their deals but me? The only deal I like is one that can have me jumping in glee… You see, I want to show those under their luck and watch them grow in power of their own… Wait, I didn’t rhythm with that one.” Fumbling her tongue, the girl gave a joyful laugh as the rest would soon follow through as they cheered the monkey for what the girl had in store for her. “ Go ahead, mighty beast!! Go and claim your feast!!”
Like her spirit renewed, the monkey stood up for the crowd to see her as a cheer roared out in the gently lit darkness. She began to make her way along her path as she was filled with a new found determination. “Brave the flame, be no longer the same… Grow in strength… Show them that you are great.” The fire was but a tower but carried by shadows, the monkey watched as the pillar grew further and further but her reward was just waiting. She felt the fire in her fingers, a push that had her shut out her mind as she grabbed the burning tower. She screeched from the burning but she began her climb, only wanting what was waiting for her at the top. “Above the gravel and dirt, make your way to the top and usurp! You are a monkey but you have more, reach out and achieve your newfound lore!!” The darkness roared and the fire was blaring, clashing against the monkey as she kept climbing the tower. She made her way higher and higher, fire was nothing but the wind to her and the darkness became peace. “I will not stop… I will never stop…” The girl kept playing her music, her lyre shining her soul as the crowd behind her cheered. The monkey felt what she missed, the feeling of others moving her forward. “Power… Power… All the power!! Make it so they cower!! Now go and conquer that tower!!” It all flowed to the monkey, ing everything that has happened to her, to the great days to her lowest point. She realized that revenge is not the answer but for herself to become stronger, become better then who she was. Her climb felt natural, her mind feeling a sense of peace as she would soon stand on the pillar of fire and shadow. It was but a mere walk up the massive tower, her face once drowned in despair was now a face that shined with desire. She marched her way to the top as her spirit was now the cape draped over her shoulders like a sun rising against her back. She continued on, her strength growing throughout her body before she made it to the top and claimed her reward. “This crown is not your strength… It is a symbol… Your pride… Show them who is the fool… And watch them divide!” She took the crown, a vile green and black fire that roared with the others as the monkey sat on the top of the great pillar. It was there the others rose high on varying pillars of colorful shadows, each donning crowns that raged with power. “With a crown on your head and a trial done, where will this little monkey have her fun?” Her fingers tingle and she cracked each one, looking at the white haired horned girl floating before the empowered monkey. “... I will find those close to me. I made a mistake and I need to fix it.”
⋆༺༻⋆
The monkey journeyed across various lands, her form now larger and stronger as her eyes give that faint glow of both resolve and otherworldly strength. She marched on as she made her way up a cliff, vibrant green and trees everywhere till she saw the land over the cliff. Before her was a war, a clash of demon and beast. The demon king was crushing many beasts as the white wolf fended off the hordes of fiendish soldiers that marched, the battle raging as fire scattered across the lands. Just as the demon king and the white wolf were about to clash, the monkey would interfere as she gently held back his great blade of fire. “What the…?!” He felt his strike halt so suddenly before he was sent back, looking down and watching the ebony furred monkey from long ago now confront him. The white wolf, burned and hurt, only looking at the monkey who stood as her crown of green and black fire flashed for a moment as well as her grin towards him. “You… You’re back?” The demon king stepped forward and took another strike at the monkey but was met with another stop, it felt like he was striking a wall as the monkey simply caught his fiery sword. “How?!” The monkey held him still, her power now roaring in a bright green and black wave that stopped the battle around them. Everyone looked towards the light, the small monkey looking up at the demon king who towered just about everyone. With a smile, she pushed him back once more but would send the demon king away. “How?! How are you able to stop me?!” The monkey did not speak but simply kept a smile, a mix of both mockery and joy. With a deep breath, she stepped forward as it caused the fiery soldiers to scatter from the wave of power that flew from her step. Taking a simple stance, the monkey punched towards the demon king as he was soon sent flying away from her force as the armies of demons began to run for the demon king. From there, the armies retreated through their gates of flame as the monkey stood there with pride before she looked over her wounded friend. “I came in search of you… I hope I did not interrupt anything.”
The night fell across the lands, the monkey sat with the many who survived as the pyres for the fallen burned bright. A feast of celebration was bestowed by all but many went for the monkey yet she only accepted out of gratitude. “Why did you come here?” The wolf said as he remained sitting by the fires, questioning why his friend who left him behind. “I wanted to apologize… I was so wrapped in my own pride that I wanted to cast aside everyone.” She explained to everyone what she went through, many showing anger but not at the fact that she abandoned everyone but over the fact that she went through all of that and wishing they were all there for her. “... You are not alone. The sheep wanted to help you, lead you to something you would be able to use.” When the moon rose, the wolf let out a howl all throughout the lands as the stars would fall towards the grounds around them. A celestial being descended as the figure who stood was the sheep that the beasts and spirits knew from before. “Did the monkey finally overcome her grief?” A tone of superiority echoed out, rattling the monkey but the sheep stood beside her as she gave her a brief moment of comfort to show she was glad to see her again. “Regardless, I am glad to see you once more. Come, I found something beyond the stars that you would need.”
A path of stars led to the heavens above, the dreamy sheep and the monkey made their way up. “Ever since your departure, the white wolf led the others to a new home. Many remained and began a new life but it was not till the demon king found our home and demanded it for himself. I could not help them during their time of need as I remained above, protecting a power no one should have… Until you returned to us.” The monkey continued to walk on her own two feet, listening to her friend speak of what had happened. Regret came to the monkey but she was quick to shake the feeling, looking over at the sheep who rode atop of a cloud of stars towards their goal. “We do not fault you… After all, you overcame your regret and woe, and became stronger through the help of others. You met those who were in your time of sorrow, they guided you out of it and you rose out of that darkness and claimed it as power. It is why the other said that you were worthy to carry this strength.” A dark power, no light nor stars to be seen, sat before the two as it raged on its pedestal. It roared like a soulless storm, howling with empty despair. “Do you wish to truly claim it?” Without a word and standing with her burning pride, the monkey walked over to the pedestal as the darkness lashed out like a corner animal. She nearly stepped back but her strength held her still, reaching out as what looked like a star was soon born before the dreamy sheep. “Yes, I do wish to claim it.”
⋆༺༻⋆
The land of fire remained as is, demons now thinned but the demon king remained on his throne as he ruled a place that meant nothing now. The red dragon remained by his side, lesser demons continued to stay by and drink the demon king’s drink as the fire clad soldiers marched across the haze and fire below. As they revel in their stagnation, the lords of fire merely sat away from it all as time claimed their presence with dust and ash becoming their very clothing. The land of fire remained the same, the same it has always been with lesser demons arriving then leaving or merely living in the very shadows of the demon king and his porcelain armor. Regardless, they continued to stay still, nothing to spur nor anything to change except the embers that flew to the clouds.
As things were still and the demons continued to chitter and mock anyone who was not them, a green pillar of fire and darkness fell from the skies as the haze was swept up to the heavens as the grounds beneath were clear. Standing far and across the demons was the monkey who stood like a man and donned the clothing of a fierce warrior yet regal like nobles. Her crown of fire and darkness rested over her head and she would let her weapon rest on the ground with her fingers wrapped firmly around its grip. She looked out to the armies before the demons would see her, grinning with both pride and mockery. The armies accepted her challenge and ran together, drawing their weapons and demanding their victory. Unfortunately, the monkey proved mightier than thousands who dared to clash with her.
“Who dares tres on our land?!” The demons roared but the monkey would silence one as demonstration, more demons either scurry in terror or stay their ground. Fire began to rain from above as the demons began their infernal spells and powers, space warping and time altering yet they were all nothing as the monkey would swing her weapon, a darkness in the form of an axe about as large as her. The weapon shattered their attempts at slaying her, the monkey snickering before she moved towards the demons. “So much power but what happens when I am beyond that?” Like an insult, the monkey would swing as the demons were soon cast away with ease, leaving the demon king. Almost hesitation welled up in him but the red dragon soon unleashed fire at the monkey, seemingly overwhelming the monkey till a circle of stars wiped away the flames. The dreamy sheep and the white wolf as well as many of those who stood with the monkey were now by the monkey, standing proudly like warriors reclaiming what was robbed. It was not vengeance nor hate, it was merely victory and proving oneself that they were the mightiest. “I did not return out of malice nor anger. This was not about me correcting what was wronged. I am here for their sake as you dare hurt them! Unlike you who wallows in stagnation, we rose to the heavens and claim our greatness… We are merely here to say… You lost.” The beasts struck down many, the white wolf bringing an end to the still lords and the monkey proved her might as she would confront the demon king.
It was never known what happened during that day, the battle seemed like it went for eternity with the monkey approaching her proof to be queen yet the demon king continued to reign with terrible power. The white wolf overcame his regret and proved to be greater than the fiery lords. As many proved their worth, I remained the guardian of the stars above while I ensured those around me grew with me. Some of the downtrodden and the lacking say the monkey failed and was defeated but others say she reigned with a blackened iron fist. In truth, neither happened. She went above, she has gone far above. The ebony furred monkey, clad in her proud warrior garb and blessed with fire and shadow… Was recognized by heaven. She went above it all, beyond even the star I watch over. She reached a point where she left the demon king in the ancient dirt he ruled as the monkey became a goddess… And yet she was still not satisfied. None of us were, we all wanted to go further above and beyond. That is what we wanted, we refused to be left in the still lands. We will become great no matter what and that is what we did.
