This was my first drawing of Mr.Eliot Wei. He is a character I've been meaning to draw and create for a long time because I LOVE MUSHU and I love Mulan. Along with Bambi, it's my favorite Disney movie.

I first came up with the idea of creating a Mushu OC when I was doing a head lineup of all my characters, including two that are still to come, one being Aiden. Back then I was still figuring out his name and I thought about Chase or Zuko, as a tribute to two characters that matched him. However... I discarded both. Elliot is a name that he chose for himself. His native name is actually rather embarrassing and so when he was chosen to NRC, he wanted his name to be cool. No spoilers yet.

I imagine Elliot as a messy guy, self centered and as a dragon, someone who loves to eat(especially spicy food). That's why I drew him eating spicy ramen with a cutesy, mischievous expression.

I first started with a first rough sketch, then a quick Lineart with a pencil HB brush. The canvas is not very big so there is no great definition in the small details and I intended it to be that way. If it was a proper illustration... I'd never drop the damn pencil. After doing the Lineart, I studied Elliot's color pallet because I still had no idea which colors I'd use, but with the help of a friend, I fought my own struggles and added 3 COLORFUL COLORS! WOW! (if you notice my art consists of drawings with reduced color pallettes such as Blue+White; Brown+Yellow; Brown+Blue...) AND THIS TIME I USED RED, YELLOW AND BLUE! What a miracle on my behalf, truly. In the end it grew on me. Glad I didn't maintain only Yellow and Red. Just cause my boy is eating doesn't mean his only colors should be McDonald colors.

I used to not like my art at all but ever since my first art dump here I was shown and love and I started making more. Ever since I've been loving to do these ocs, talking about them, talking about other people's ocs... It has made me work on my art harder, have more motivation and like what I'm doing. I mean it when I say this community did change my love for making drawings, everyone in here did and I'm so greatful. Why am I saying this? When it doesn't have much to do with a hungry scaled flying lizard? Probably because the change was that meaningful to me and I wanted to share my gratitude with those that caused it.
