Dilanne was stitched together by an older woman with no children. This woman was fond of her sister’s children, her oldest niece in particular. Her niece reminded her of herself when she was younger because of their shared interest in art. When the woman’s niece had moved away, she lost her best friend. To relieve the stress, she sewed Dilanne to resemble her niece. Dilanne’s personality was similar to the woman’s niece in many ways that neither the woman nor Dilanne could understand...

... Dilanne spent most of her time comforting the woman until her last breaths, making little things for her here and there out of spare clay around the home. Dilanne spent her last hours with the woman making a sculpture of her, triumphantly lying it next to her. As she got ready to rest, Dilanne was drawn to one of the few outlets in the house. Curious, she allowed herself to enter into Patchtopia. As beautiful as this land was to her, as right as it felt to be there, she couldn’t leave the old woman. She left and stayed near her until she realized the old woman was gone...

Dilanne knew she couldn’t stay by the old woman’s side forever, but she held on as long as she could. The idea of Patchtopia seemed to comfort her, surely the woman would be happy to see Dilanne happy. And so she returned. She came out the other side of the outlet, stepping back into Patchtopia. With some clay as a souvenir of sorts, she entertained herself by creating sculptures of memories with the old woman.
