2017 Survey & Temporary Tip Resource

The following are the impressions received from my 2017 Survey (if you haven't submitted a Google form yet please take the time to do so)!

Guidelines

The majority have read the guidelines at least once. For those who have not they can be found in the left margin of the app (circled in red). Please at least skim over them once as we do have a few differences from other Aminos.

Community Events

An example of an event in this Amino is a challenge (done for fun) and competitions (done for prizes). You'll gain reputation, a possible feature on the front page feed, and sometimes you'll earn rewards like titles and other rare opportunities (like a custom dice bag)!

We'd love to partner with your Amino. See our post on commission prices, just try to include as much info as you can as well as examples of your work!

Guilds

Part of the 2017 Survey is asking "What are you?" with choices like DM, player, visual artist, musician, writer, and a field to fill out. If at least 10 of each choice and specification is gathered a guild will be established after that interest. The current highest ranking interests are DMs, Players, Visual Artists, and Writers. In the near future you will be seeing guilds surrounding these subjects arise.

D&D Editions

The most popular edition so far is 5e. Second is 3.5 and third in the "other" category is Pathfinder.

Homebrew

For those that are unfamiliar with homebrew, a way of describing it is homebrewing is taking the structure or bones of D&D and applying then to an existing or new universe and often differing genres like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Pokémon, Star Wars, etc. 72.7% of participants homebrew. A guild may likely arise ing this inventive hobby.

Volunteers & Staff

If you said you were interested in volunteering there will be plenty of opportunities to help out with the community. If you expressed interest in becoming a Curator or Leader, Curator applications will be opend and reviewed in January of 2018. You'll receive a link in your PM if you expressed interest at this point in time to a Google form which will inquire your specific interests as a Curator. A member must first become a Curator to eventually be promoted as a Leader. So far a large amount of survey submissions have expressed interest in volunteering for the community (59.1% of participants).

Spreading the Word

If you tell someone you know about the community it is very much appreciated. The number one group people chatter to are their friends, second fellow Amino s, and third co-students. There is likely to be some overlapping in these three groups.

Community Rating

7 on a scale of 1 (No Enjoyment) to 10 (Exceptional Enjoyment) is the most popular rating selected by 40.9% of participants.

Improvement Reccommendations

Many suggestions have been made and are being taken into and have begun to be implemented. We're listening to your humble demands!

Volunteer Ideas

Some willing volunteers don't have any ideas, but that's okay, if you expressed interest in being a volunteer there are other of the community that have cooked up some good ideas that they could use your help with!

There are only a few features so far that didn't know we're a feature before submitting the survey. Those features are...

> Question Posts

These posts make the comment section into rankable comments via upvotes much like Reddit. This allows the most relevant and helpful answers to be bumped up to the top leaving the least helpful or repetitive advice nearer to the bottom. You can find the option to create a Question Post by pressing the red pencil icon. The Question post option is located in the top row.

> Link Posts

These are pretty simple. You copy a link, select this post type (the icon is blue with a white chain link) and you paste the link and select "Done". Perfect for a quick share. The icon is found in the second row.

> Quizzes

You can make quizzes with an insane amount of questions. It is reccommended that you stick close to the 10 question range and rarely exceed 20. Stay away from opinionated type questions, jeep it short, and stick to the facts. The icon is pink with a white check box that is checked and is found in the second row.

> Shared Folder

A place to stick images relating to D&D. You can make albums and stash memes. You can find this feature in the left margin as "Shared Folder". The icon is a faded red-orange.

> External Content

Fairly new (2017) feature that hosts an RSS feed from Reddit subreddits and YouTube channels. You can scroll through a relatively endless timeline or sort by the External Content you prefer to see. This feature is found in the left margin of the app. The icon is orange.

> Leaderboards

To see how rank up according to their reputation, time spent in the community, quizzes played, and check in streaks see the left margin of the app and select the red icon that says "Leaderboards".

> Voice Chats

You can record voice notes and host or voice chats in private or public chatrooms.

> Topic Categories

The left margin of the app hosts many topic categories. When you make a post you can put it in a category that is fitting. Challenge posts go into the [CH]Entries and Competition posts go into the [CO]Entries. Other post types may fit into currently available categories and if not, can always request new ones.

Linking Profiles

This is a basic function you'll need to know at some point. It makes your Amino experience so much easier when you know how to utilize the features of your profile. To copy your profile link you'll need to first go to your profile. This can be done by either pressing your profile icon in the left margin of the app, your profile pic/name when you leave a comment on a post, or your profile pic/name at the top of a post you made.

At the very top right of your profile, you'll see a series of three dots "...". Press these and a few options will appear near the bottom of your screen. You'll need to press "Copy Link" to copy your profile link.
