Please Read The Following Before You Vote
We as the Dungeons and Dragons Amino staff would like to hear what you the community have to say by cast of vote in these pollings. Three options are to be presented to you. Each option will be briefly explained as necessary below.
Option 1
A member that does not source an image that does not belong to them within a 24 hour period will have their post hidden from the community, temporarily, until the issue is remedied. can ask for help.
- The rule will be fairly strict.
- Negative consequence.
- Most effort required.
Option 2
Only obvious or clearly ledgible watermarks and signatures are to be directly linked to the proper artist. There is no time limit. There are no negative repercussions. Any post that meets the general requirements to be featured or accepted into the catalog will be considered. Any post that uses images with clearly ledgible watermarks or signatures are to be properly sourced before they are featured or accepted into the catalog. can ask for help.
- The rule will be more lenient.
- Positive reinforcement.
- Moderate effort required.
Option 3
There is no regulation on art in this community. All are free to use art without crediting the rightful owner. There is no time limit. Those that do source can ask for help. All posts are treated equally according to the necessary requirements for features and wiki/catalog submissions and the sourcing of art is ignored.
- The rule will be removed.
- Least effort possible.

I think creators should be recognised for their hard work. The least one could do as a decent person is to say who created it if you thought that it was great enough to repost and share.
Fair use applies when using the image for comment, criticism, parody or education. Crediting does not let you off the hook but it can sooth any anger that the artist may have if they find out.
It's not fair use if you are competing with the artist in of recognition for the work. So long as your repost appears on google and the artist finds it, it breaks the fair use agreement since you are not using it fairly AND are competing with the owner.
There have been cases of people getting sued and you can't slap "fair use" onto anything and assume you are safe.
The only safe way to repost is to get written permission which would keep you in the clear. I think that by expecting s to just give credit is already cutting s a lot of slack of having to message the artist and wait for a reply.

My friend, you are clearly very intelligent. So why not try some decency to at least give credit where credit is due?
At this point, the internet is the real world, as anonymous as it may seem. If you truly like something enough to repost it, then why are you discouraging its creator?
I come from an amino filled with 12 year olds and they have a better sense of fairness and give credit where credit is due.
It's ridiculous that an artist should have to watermark their piece if they want to be given credit. WTF.
If someone's too damn lazy to do a reverse image search and source they don't deserve to use the HOURS of work artists put into their pieces in their post.
EDIT: I like how you can tell who are and aren't artists in this amino by the comments section and somewhat by the results. Only someone who's never worked for a half dozen hours on a piece would think it's ok to take such a piece and use it willy nilly without even a link or name drop to the artist.
I am here to defend my fellow artists. Just bloody reverse image search your picture. It takes you a minute or two, its not that much of a hassle. How did you even get an image without knowing the source? You mightve googled it already, so you shouldve just clicked on the link that belongs with the image to see the artist.

Then that's either too bad or they'll try extra hard to find the artist of they care about the work that much.

Then find someone to commission.

Reverse image search. If that yields no result, dont use the image.
I guess I won't be able to post pictures then.

O-k :ok_hand:
Honestly I want to bring this up, if you can't find a source to the art /then dont use it/ you can find something else or commission someone and use that picture as a clothing ref for them or something

You keep repeating yourself because you're not getting the point. What we're trying to encourage is not a Narvii ToS, copyright, or fair use based problem. Artists have been personally telling you that posting their hard work somewhere else is doing them a major disservice. Is that not enough leverage for you to want to AT LEAST credit them? People are acting as if theyre entitled to use their work for their own personal use because they found it on Google images. And we're here to tell you that they are not. Its disrespectful. The artist sees it as stealing. You know the drill. Their view doesn't matter because of these laws? It certainly will when they stop posting on the internet for these reasons and everyone loses out, the most being the artist themselves.

That's why I voted 2 and not 3. I'm willing to make a compromise.

Option 2 is only a "compromise" for the morally lazy. An artist shouldn't NEED to slather an ugly watermark on their work to be given credit for it. People should be decent enough human beings to know that when you use work that you didn't do, you give the person who did credit. It's not hard.
