It had been at least two weeks since Winter Kai had run into the Northern Horsemen. With them he had now learned how to stay firmly seated while his mount scaled the side of a mountain. At least most of the time. They had given him what they call a childs' catch saddle. This catch saddle keeps one from loosing balance or falling off while the mount jumped from ledge to ledge. Still amazing to watch these large steeds easily move up the side of the mountains. It is as if these steeds were part mountain goat. Finally they reached the crest, the air thin and crisp. Wine again is ed as snow whips around them. One of the riders looks at the Winter Kai, then tilts his head. A smile is given while he moves his hand through the falling snow, parting it as if it were nothing but a curtain. As the snowy curtain parts, a warmer breeze follows. The Curtain. Blinking the Winter Kai, looks again. The snow past the curtain is gone, a field of green and gold meadow grass takes its' place. Further down is a valley leading to a large lake. Beyond the lake one can see a town? Winter Kai follow the riders as most of them move through the curtain of snow. The others turn away from The Curtain, heading back into their beloved snow. The air here on this side of The Curtain was indeed warmer. The perfect spring day, not hot at all. Warm with a cool breeze that flows off of the Mountains that surround this place. The Winter Kai had heard of this place, never did he expect to see it. The Elder knew he was coming. Only with the Elder's premission is ing through The Curtain allowed. Maybe he had chosen right in quickly heading here, while leaving the others behind.
(Sorry it has been a bit since I've written...life gets in the way at times. AKA gardening, horses, chickens, cows and putting away veggies for the winter)
