O1.

. . . Sharpening/ getting better

black & white overlay "quality".

This one will help you get overall sharper edges around your black/ white editing overlay as well as help you get it transparent and ready for further editing!

First, you need to import your overlay into your canvas (I'll be using a star overlay as an example). When you have already added it into your canva, go to filters :

       white o

Then go to "adjust color" section and look for "adjust color" filter and apply it to your overlay image. You should adjust the contrast of the image ( the brightness slider isn't needed). I personally just go for 100% on contrast to have the highest sharpness, but you can adjust it to your liking!

BONUS : You can make your image transparent by clearing all white color from the image as well as invert the colour from white to black in three simple clicks which will save you more time than doing it by hand :

O2.

. . . Adding patterns on images.

Want to get this effect on pictures and overlays?

Then I have a rather simple and easy way for you to do so. First, you need to grab a pattern you would like to use either from pinterest or any other media or simply import it from ibispaint materials gallery (which is what I do). Make sure the pattern you use is either transparent or black and white so that you can use the clear white option on your pattern as we will need it transparent.

When you have your pattern added to the canva go to your image layer and click "duplicate layer" after you did so move your duplicated image above pattern of your choice and enable clipping on your image layer, then merge it with pattern.

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

       white o

After merging your image with pattern, go to blending modes and pick "multiply". That way, your pattern will now be visible on the image. You need to also enable clipping for your pattern layer so that it doesn't go outside of your image.

And there you go, now you have a pattern on your image! (The same thing can be applied to gradient overlays or solid color overlays)

O3.

. . . Adding custom fonts

to your ibispaint gallery.

If you want some fancy fonts or saw a font that you saw someone use for ibispaint but are not sure how to get it then let me show you as it's really easy and quick to do!

First, you need to add some text to your canva. Then click "font" and then click the "+" button, which will be in the top right corner of the font list.

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

After that, you want to click the first site link, which is a site that provides fonts. There, you can pick any font you want as all of these are free to use. After you find a font that you like, simply it by clicking the button.

       white o

After a short while, your font should be ed and will be automatically added to your font list. Now you can use it whenever you want to (but to add it to your favourite one by clicking the start for easier access).

( I'll also be providing a list of the fonts I often use for my edits soon )

O4.

. . . Applying custom effects /textures on edits.

There are a lot of cool effects and textures to use on ibispaint, but there are some times where you would like to apply a specific & more complicated effect /texture that you maybe saw on pinterest or google like this vhs one (which I used for overall curator apps blog aesthetic) :

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

Luckily, these effects /textures are very easy to apply! All you need to do is find an effect /texture that you like on google or pinterest (which I personally use for every overlay /effect). I'll be using a similar vhs effect /texture I used for the previous example for this tutorial.

All you need to do is first import your image as well as effect /texture of your choosing and make sure layer with effect is above your image (you can also use clipping on effect layer if necessary). Then go to "blending mode" and pick "overlay" effect, and that's all really! Additionally, if you think that effect is too strong, you can adjust the opacity of the effect layer.

Here's how applied effect /texture looks on the image ! :D

O5.

. . . Easy image border (+ different types).

Borders around images and overlays are used pretty often (at least by me) and there are more border types that I personally use than the classic one so let me show you how to add a easy border as well as make some other variants!

First, import your transparent image and then duplicate layer with your image and make sure that you have a lower image layer selected.

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

Then go to filters and in "Style" section select "Stroke (both)" option. After that, you can adjust the border to your liking or if you would like to have a sharp border, set "Inner width" to max (300px) and "Antialias" to minimum (1.0px) just like on image below (set outer width to your liking!)

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

And there you go! That's how you get your easy and simple border without needing to do it by hand. But wait, cuz there's more. I also like to do borders that have space between them and the image, so let me show you how I do both smooth and spikey one!

Once again, you will need to do the normal border just like previously, but now set outer width of border to how much space you would like to have between your image and actual border ( in my case I'll be using 27px for my gap between border and image)

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

Then duplicate your border layer and select a copy of the border layer at the bottom.

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

After that, you will need to go to effects and create another border, but this time, pick a "border width" that you would like your actual border to be.

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

When you have that done, select the "border gap" layer (the one above the actual border one) then click on options tab (which will be these three dots in the right bottom of layers menu) and select "select opacity".

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

Then all you need to do is switch back to your border layer and click "clear layer option" and you can remove the "border gap" layer!

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

And there you go. Now you have a nice and even space between your border and image/ overlay.

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &

As for more spikey version like this one :

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

There, unfortunately, is no way as far as I know to do it automatically, just like the smooth one HOWEVER you can use the drawing tool to make that border yourself and specifically use "polyline" drawing tool for this one!

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

Just to turn off the "fill" option under drawing tools.

─ׅ─ׅ─ׅ─៹۟▩⃟ꦿꦼ🦋▩⃟ꦿꦼ៹─ׅ─ׅ─ׅ─

O6.

. . . Changing image colour to one solid or gradient.

It’s always nice to keep the color palette of your overall edit and not have to worry about trying to fit a character of a different color palette to it! So in this little section I would like to show you how to do it and make it look decent.

First, import your image to canva, then go to filters and in "adjust color" section pick the "huge saturation and lightness" option. After that, turn saturation to a minimum (-100%).

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

Then add another layer with the color of your choice and turn on clipping. Next, go to "blending mode" and pick "hard light" option.

【 :globe_with_meridians: 】IbisPaint editing tricks & tips 。-[B]

[Cu]( :bangbang: )This wiki includes :

O1. Sharpening/ getting better black &
       white o

And that's all. Now you have a differently colored image that will fit into any color palette you want it to!

and unfortunately, these are all of the more important tricks I use for editing that I from the top of my head. If you would like me to make some more tutorials for these tips and tricks, let me know which ones you are interested in, and I might make a part 2 to this! :'D
