Weekend Challenge - Thranduil

The genre I chose for Thranduil is EDM (electronic dance music), specifically Trance, since there are many types of electronic music. There are not a lot of people who listen to EDM or have even heard of it. So this is why I chose this genre. I also picked Trance, because trance has a mellow, “elegant”, and smooth sound to it. All elves have fluid and smooth like movements. They also can be “elegant”. Even the soldiers and such. These will all be scenes.

1. When Thranduil bid his farewell with Legolas, his son, after the Battle of Five Armies.

✧ Their farewell is a quite sad one, since Legolas says he won’t be returning back. You can tell in this scene, that though they are not that close, that they still have that connection as father and son, even if it’s barely there. I was able to connect this scene with the song easily.

2. Thranduil fighting during the Battle of Five Armies.

✧ I mainly chose this song because of the lyrics, but also because of the way that Thranduil fought. I can see him moving to this music and/or him being the music and moving through with ease, fighting his enemies.

3. Thranduil awaiting the dwarfs and them entering into the Kings home.

✧ I chose this song because this remix has different tones throughout the song that can make it tense or something is awaiting everyone, yet they don’t know what it is yet. This is what could be felt during the meeting between Thranduil and the dwarfs.

4. Thranduil showing his scars to Thorin, which he normally conceals.

✧ This song starts off quite mellow, which for me represents before the showing of his scars. Then builds up to the intensity of their discussion. After comes the drop, which represents him showing his scars on the side of his face leaning down closely to Thorin’s face.
