Hɪ Tʜᴇʀᴇ!

             And welcome to a new episode of #Frazz's

             Kitchen! 🥳 It's been a while since we have

             been able to do one of these cause you

             know... corona and stuff :sweat_smile: But Frannie is

             here visiting me now :raised_hands:

             A̶̶n̶̶d̶ ̶y̶̶e̶̶s̶̶,̶ ̶w̶̶e̶ ̶b̶̶a̶̶s̶̶i̶̶c̶̶a̶̶l̶̶l̶̶y̶ ̶c̶̶a̶̶l̶̶l̶ ̶e̶̶v̶̶e̶̶r̶̶y̶ ̶b̶̶l̶̶o̶̶g̶ ̶w̶̶e̶ ̶d̶̶o̶

             But this time we decided that we wanted

             to do some fanart. Or rather, I would have

             Frannie teach me how to do fanart :grin:

             Cause as you know, Frannie is super good

             at drawing and while I like to draw, I am

             nowhere near her skill level and I don't

             ever draw faces... that's just too hard :sweat_smile:

             But why not try it out now that I have a

             great teacher at my side?

             But oh well, I'll stop rambling now and get

             onto the fanart :blush: I'll try to explain how

             Frannie guided me through it ♡

Sᴛᴇᴘ Bʏ Sᴛᴇᴘ

             First of all we needed to decide who to

             draw. Frannie let me decide that and of

             course I went with Kyungsoo :see_no_evil: He is

             bias and he also just released amazing

             solo album not too long ago so I find it

             quite fitting :grin:

             We decided to go for semi realism as that

             would teach me about proportions and

             stuff without being straight up realism :ok_hand:

             For the reference we went with this:

             When choosing the reference we tried to

             look for something with a pretty neutral

             angle and something without hands or

             other intricate things near the face. This

             way it would be easier for a beginner like

             me to follow along.

             We started out with the eyes as that is the

             Frannie method :pray: There were a lot of little

             things to pay attention to right off the bat.

             Like how the eyes actually have way more

             lines to draw than I would initially have

             thought :sweat_smile:

             Frannie also instructed me to pay really

             close attention to the angle at which

             things curve, the distance between things

             and stuff like that. This is a thing that was

             important all throughout the process as a

             small change can make a huge difference.

             Then we went on to draw the other eye.

             This is where the ruler was introduced 🤓

             Basically, it's super hard to get the dis-

             tance between the eyes correct and it's

             also really hard making the eyes fairly

             symmetrical. So Frannie gave the tip to

             use a ruler... and I then proceeded to use

             the ruler for absolutely everything after

             that point :joy:

             I thought it was a great tip to get the

             proportions looking good and it made me

             feel more confident knowing that I had

             some kind of suggestion for where to put

             the things. And then it also gave me the

             option to blame the ruler if something

             went wrong :sweat_smile:

             Now this picture might look super weird

             but hear me out! Basically, we drew some

             lines straight down to indicate where the

             nose would go. But to me, that just looked

             like a great opportunity to turn him into a

             tiger :see_no_evil: We didn't go with that idea but oh

             well, maybe another time :joy:

             Then we drew a nose... a human nose

             this time :ok_hand: I feel like the nose just looked

             weird no matter what I did but Frannie

             said that was normal and I think she was

             right. It doesn't look odd when you look at

             it with the rest of the face but for some

             reason, a nose on its own just looks really

             strange :joy:

             Now here comes the part that makes him

             actually look like Kyungsoo! 🥳 When

             drawing the lips Frannie gave me tips on

             how to make the lines curve in a specific

             way so they would look distinctly like

             Kyungsoo's lips.

             Now for the face and neck! As you can

             see here I also started drawing a little

             flower at the bottom. Well, that was

             because we were discussing what to do

             at the bottom of the drawing. Like should

             we draw the top part of his shirt or just

             leave him floating or what? Well basically

             we had a conversation that went a little

             like this:

             Frannie: Ooh, wouldn't it be cool if there

                             was slime coming out from the

                             bottom of his neck?

             Marzy:   Noooo! I don't wanna chop his

                             head off and have slime!

             Frannie! But it would look so cool!

             Marzy:   But that's disgusting!

             But oh well :sweat_smile: After this, we decided that

             we would do different things here. I

             would go with a flowery theme and

             Frannie changed her mind from making

             slime to making stars.

             I think it turned out pretty cool how they

             are drawn form the same reference but

             they are still very different. Of course

             because of the difference in skill level :see_no_evil:

             But also because we chose to add

             different things to it :blush:

             Then we did the hair and honestly, this

             was probably what was the most difficult

             for me! I was being super slow at draw-

             ing the lines and it just looked so stiff and

             not at all like real hair. Frannie advised me

             to try doing more quick and loose flicks

             to draw the line and it was excellent

             advise as soon as I gathered the courage

             to actually do it.

             It seemed a little scary to make big

             swoops like that on the drawing when I

             had been so meticulous with all the other

             things but in the end it made the hair

             look much better than with my original

             approach!

             Lineart time! This part was also quite

             scary cause up until now, nothing I did

             was permanent but this very much was.

             But once we got started it wasn't so bad.

             Quite nice actually to be able to just

             follow the lines here for the most part :raised_hands:

             Then we coloured it and then it was done.

             We did very different colours for the

             picture as well. But staying true to that

             Frannie style, we did some fun unnatural

             colours :sunglasses:

             We did the colouring with watercolour and

             as you might have noticed, the paper I

             was drawing on is a bit textured cause it

             is actually meant for watercolour. It's not

             great watercolour paper but it does the

             job :ok_hand: And Frannie has a great sketchbook

             that was also able to take watercolour

             just fine :blush:

             Here Frannie showed me where to put

             the shading and that kinda stuff. Frannie

             used a purple colour for the shading

             herself and it turned out super cool looking!

Tʜᴀᴛ's Aʟʟ

             I had a really good time with this and

             good thing I did cause it took us all day

             :joy: I was super slow so thanks to Frannie

             for being Patient with me :two_hearts:

             I feel like I learned a lot from this as well.

             It was great to be able to draw the same

             thing at the same time cause then I could

             always look over at Frannie and see how

             she was doing it. The thought of drawing

             faces seems a little less scary after this

             lesson :pray:
