Ice Demon Xiu :smiling_imp: :snowflake: Fanart

It's been a good while since I posted

on EA, oofies :') but anyway, in a whim

of procrastination I've decided to draw

some EXO today! I haven't drawn any

of them in ages so I figured I'd go for

my bias, the one and only Xiumin~

I (...sorta...) used this as a reference:

I had the idea to make him into sort

of a demon, with big eyes standing

out on the body as more of a silhou-

ette shape, with bright hair for some

spice. So I got to sketching~

I've been having kind of an

aversation to drawing clothes

recently, they just kind of always

interrupt the lines and shapes??

So that's why he's not wearing any,

you're welcome.

Anyways, the only part I looked

at from the reference was the hair

(somewhat), I did try to make the

eye shape Xiumin-y tho. I didn't feel

like drawing the whole body so I let

it flare out into what at first I thought

to maybe be flames? Anyways!

I felt like the hair looked a little too

tame with the more ragged shapes

of the "fire", so I adjusted it a little.

At first I hadn't planned on giving

him a face other than the eyes but

then I sort of wanted to add a mouth

after all, so I tried a few variations

(and most of them looked weird):

I was kind of torn between the wide

Cheshire cat kind of grin (top right)

and the heart-shaped smile (bottom

right). Since it is supposed to be Xiu

I went with the heart-shaped option

to match his adorable smile a bit. So

now we have a cutesie demon which

I next outlined with a 0.2 liner:

Then I went on to coloring with water-

based markers. For the "flames", hair

and eyes I went with light blue and

turquoise, which then got me to think

of it as ice rather than fire. Matches

with his power too hehe, so yeah,

totally intentional. Yup. I also ditched

the silhouette Idea by adding some

highlights as well as black shading.

Lastly I colored his scleras red and

added some thicker 0,5 lining around

the outside and that was it!

I'm happy with how he turned out!

I'm also glad I got around to finally

drawing about EXO again hehe

As for the blog I'm honestly not sure

if they're interesting to read or if I'm

rambling about my thought process

too much, so if anyone has thoughts

on that feel free to lmk haha
