Hello one, hello all. It is I Rebecca posting again after a very very very long Hiatus. At first I wasn't sure if I should post again but inspiration hit me so here I am. Posting an old Fanfic Chapter wasn't going to cut it this time so I'm writing another blog about my AU some people have shown interest in and this time it is about the main couple.

*cough cough* Nalu.

Now I know there's much hate and much toxicity around this ship so writing this will be challenging for me especially when my love for this ship is no longer a love I used to bear but do know that I still very much enjoy the idea I have for them.

Before I do get into this however, I do recommend seeing my other blogs of this AU- to eliminate any confusion if there is any.

✶                        ˚· ʚ ᴡʜᴏ ɪs ʟᴜᴄʏ ʜᴇᴀʀᴛғɪʟɪᴀ? ɞ ·˚

Lucy Heartfilia is a young mage with quite the optimistic and cheerful personality in the Canon series however in this AU, she is much different- jk jk – it’s actually pretty similar except in this AU Lucy you all know and love is in fact not human. She comes from a long line of Heartfilia Angels, each gifted with strong ties with the spirit world which has gifted them with stronger than usual Celestial Spirit Magic. Lucy is on the younger side compared to her Mother and her ancestors so her development on her Celestial skills has far from reached its potential and unfortunately, due to her traumatic past that potential is now non-existent for her wings were crudely ripped away from her in the worst possible way by an enemy who worked for her Father. Her ability to fly was no longer and her magic power greatly diminished. She was soon considered a Fallen Angel due to her lack of Angelic power and ability. Oh no.

But that doesn't stop her cheerfulness and optimism- until she meets Natsu where she begins to question everything.

✶                       ˚· ʚ ᴡʜᴏ ɪs ɴᴀᴛsᴜ ᴅʀᴀɢɴᴇᴇʟ? ɞ ·˚

Natsu Dragneel is a mage, and a powerful one at that. Like Lucy, his personality it quite dense, cheerful and fierce when his friends are in trouble- or at least that’s what his personality was like. Unfortunately, his past with the Wizard Guild Fairy Tail is a difficult one for him to process for he was a well known S-Class mage with an alias of Salamander- until he was kicked out of the guild during a mission. He lost a lot of faith, and trust in both himself and everyone around him. Natsu stopped caring and became more destructive, giving into a lot of his darker impulses with killing and merciless destruction. His heart turned to stone, and he doesn’t let anyone in but Happy whom was the only one who didn’t leave him..

Due to his nature and destruction... he is feared by all who recognise him and is even on the road from becoming an independent mage to a black mage, a title no one can come back from- not even Natsu. His previous optimism is buried, along with all his kindness and comion but when he meets Lucy... that all begins to change.

✶             ˚· ʚ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴄᴏɴɴᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ ᴅᴏ ᴛʜᴇʏ ʜᴀᴠᴇ? ɞ ·˚

Natsu Dragneel and Lucy Heartfilia have a connection like no other in the series. Their chance meeting in Hargeon is very similar but also very different to the Canon series although there is no denying their chance meeting is what starts it all. Their story. It’s a story filled with familiar feelings, pain, destruction with blood and war but also something the Canon does not explore. Love. That’s right, in this AU Natsu and Lucy become more than potential enemies, they become more than a pair of individuals with a deep connection due to an understanding they have of each other. They become lovers, romantic partners, soulmates. When in this story that romance starts, I’ll leave for another time, but for now let’s talk about how they became soulmates and what is a soulmate in this AU.

For starters, it’s complicated.

Natsu- loathes and hates Fairy Tail from the bottom of his soul, to the very tips of his fingers. He’s vengeful and will do everything in his power to avoid being into with any Fairy Tail mage in fear he’d hurt people he used to call family. Lucy however, is in love with the idea of being a Fairy Tail mage. She’s seen so much, heard so many amazing things about the guild and wants nothing more than to in their ranks to find a family, a place to call home. Lucy’s take on the former Fairy Tail Salamander, is one of hatred however that’s due to the cover story for the public that Fairy Tail made. To many, Natsu abandoned Fairy Tail and has even been stealing all their work for himself which is a story Lucy believes but when she actually meets him, she softens and when she learns about the truth, everything changes.

These two are an unlikely pair, polar opposites but for a thing called fate, they’re the obvious choice to pair together. Their chance meeting didn’t just happen to change them in of sympathy and empathy- it also changes themselves as people and this is due to being soulmates or otherwise known as Spirit Bonded. You’d think this bond has something to do with Celestial beings or tied with the Celestial world but it’s tied within the Dragons and is a bond typically shared with Dragons or Dragon-Slayers. A touch, a single touch from flesh to flesh is what connects these two in both body, mind and soul.

More of this bond will be explained in a separate blog, hopefully.

✶                          ˚· ʚ ʜᴀʀɢᴇᴏɴ ᴍᴇᴇᴛɪɴɢ ɞ ·˚

We all know how this goes. Natsu meets Lucy in Hargeon, they both take down the fake Salamander and then Natsu takes Lucy to Fairy Tail where their story originally begins. Simple, pretty cliche since its like boy meets girl, saves girl and the story begins with them together. This doesn’t happen in this AU, oh no, this is different. How different? I’ll tell you.

Our story does start similarly to the Canon storyline, although that’s because the writing for this is very old and in need of changing, for the future hopefully. But anyway, it begins with Natsu, stuck on a train. It’s been a year since his last mission as a Fairy Tail mage, in fact this day is the anniversary of being kicked out so other than the motion sickness and the train, he is in a particular foul mood. Just like in the Canon, he is sent away to ride the train a second time. Why he’s in Hargeon? To meet Igneel. Same situation. Now Lucy, same thing again, in Hargeon as a stop towards Fairy Tail. She buys Plue and is grumbling to herself before word of Salamander gets around. She’s alone and suspicious of this ‘Salamander' although she checks it out nonetheless.

Lucy becomes a female that runs into Natsu in his very sick and agitated form before the fake Salamander comes into the story. This is not how their meeting begins. It begins later, with the fake Salamander which has some humour added to it, such as a fangirl throwing a shoe at Natsu, due to his disrespect towards the fake Salamandee, who dodged it without looking and allowed the offensive weapon to sink into the fake Salamanders crouch. The crowd disperses not long after that (not surprisingly) and this is where it begins.

Being kicked away, didn’t help with Natsu’s fowl mood. Garbage was where he landed but the smell was nothing new to him. Lucy shows up not long afterwards, trying to hide her disgust but ends up thanking the boys for freeing her from the spell she was put under. Here, she’s nothing but kind but that’s because she does not know who Natsu really is and as for Natsu, he is equally as nice for reasons unknown to even himself and Happy realized this right from the beginning. They talked as if they were friends, Lucy even offered to find a hot spring for them to clean up and even shouted lunch at a cafè, she didn’t watch them clean up of course but she did end up grabbing his phone number despite his reluctance. At the cafè is slightly different to the Canon storyline for Happy did nothing but eat fish and glare at Lucy, especially for ‘changing’ Natsu plus Natsu himself is smarter, analysing Lucy with a speech about being optimistic, the strengths and weaknesses.

Lucy is left speechless.

From here we watch Lucy read a Sorcerers Weekly magazine on a Hargeon bench. She reads many articles, such as one explaining a Fairy Tail wizards by the name of Adamina chasing a slave ring master towards Hargeon. It didn’t click at first but she thought back to Salamander and his charm ring. She doesn’t get given the chance to react before she’s confronted by the man. He’s seen as a phony, even gives up his charade for a moment under Lucy’s furious shouts however she is quickly persuaded to come with him when he mentions his connection to Fairy Tail, itting there’s not one, but two Salamanders in the process. When he leaves, Lucy is furious at his tactics but blindly follows him towards his ship for this party he is hosting well, after she buys a dress that is.

With Natsu once again, he has caught Lucy’s complete essence. He won’t explain, but from their lunch, he knew she wasn’t human much like him but also very different. For reasons unknown to him he decides to find her before leaving Hargeon, to return her change from their lunch and wished to leave straight afterwards. In his attempt to find her he tries following her scent into a crowded street which is crawling with many scents, he finds Lucy but is quickly overwhelmed and grows vulnerable to his demon side. He suddenly grows weak and has a mental battle with the demon in him with Happy growing concerned when his eyes begin to change. Thankfully he was able to regain his control and escape to an alleyway to calm down but its quickly revealed that he’s not alone. A pair of Fairy Tail mages, Taya and Pan were their names, had been unfortunate when meeting Salamander and were completely under his control. Their meeting with Natsu in the alley was intentional and they were out for blood but quickly retreated when Natsu unleashed a fraction of his power.

During this, Lucy happens to meet two young Fairy Tail mages when looking for a dress. These mages had overheard her and Natsu in the cafè and wished for her help after realizing their other teammates (Taya and Pan) had gone missing. Lucy is quick to decide to help them and realized Salamander had taken them. With the other mages help, they devised a plan to free them however Lucy had to go solo and she wasn’t expecting the ambush or for her keys to get thrown out the window in the process. Taya and Pan were dragged into the charm spell deeper than she believed and freeing them became completely impossible. It started to become a nightmare to Lucy, especially when the fake Salamander noticed the bright crystal blue coloured Celestial Key that hung around her neck, separate to her usual key holder. This key was different, and much more important to Lucy for it was a Crystal Key, a guardian spirit was held inside and it was this very key that held her physical pain.

The fake Salamander strip’s away this precious Key despite Lucy’s desperate cries and he’s quick to regret his actions for she screams and not girly screams, but screams so loud she shatters windows and nearby eardrums for the pain in her scarred back that was previously concealed by the key was unleashed. She wailed like a banshee and didn’t stop despite being out of breath, not even Natsu crashing through the roof stopped her cries or at least it didn’t until Happy returned the Crystal Key to her neck and her pain becomes concealed again. At first, Lucy is shocked at both the damage and the sudden reappearance of Natsu. There isn’t much of a chance to catch up before he’s hit with his motion sickness and thr fake Salamanders anger arises.

Happy is quickly ordered to take Lucy away, thus the flying exceed complies and tries to escape except Lucy’s legs are caught by one of the bad mans henchmen and Happy isn’t strong enough to carry both. A gun is pulled on both of them in an attempt to stop their flee but thankfully Pan snaps out of her controlled trance (thanks to Lucy’s scream) and aids the pair in their escape. A single book upon the man who held Lucy down was all it took before they escaped out of the same hole Natsu created. From here until the ending is quite similar to the Canon timeline; Lucy summons Aquarius, gets sent to shore with the ship and even receives an apology from Happy for his attitude when they first met.

On land, they’re spotted by the two young mages that enlisted Lucy’s help and they recognise Happy who hides behind a tree after being spotted. Happy could only cry and mention he never left the guild but before he could elaborate the fake Salamanders ship bursts out with scared people, the two Fairy Tail mages that needed help were the fastest and they didn’t even stop to talk to Lucy before grabbing their teammates and leaving the entire town with dust piling in their wake. Natsu is spotted upon the ship, looking down at the fake Salamander menacingly. True names are quickly revealed, Natsu is Salamander , with a price on his head with the fake Salamander being Bora, a human trafficker who also has a hefty price on his head.

Two criminals collide with Natsu being the victor within moments but since he’s a criminal himself he couldn’t stick around, but he needed to speak to Lucy and unlike the time in the cafè, he was much more dark and serious. With black magic in his ankles, he teleports himself, Happy and Lucy to the outskirts of the town with teleportation magic to escape the Hargeon soldiers. Here he harshly pushes Lucy against a house with his skin touching her shoulder and warns her not to trust Fairy Tail for if she does, they’ll use her like they did to him and if this time does come to he does not intend to give her any sympathy. During this warning Lucy can only feel a bad burning sensation where he touched her and didn’t promise to comply with him. With that being said, he dropped a sack of coins on the ground (Lucy’s change from the cafè) and leaves with Happy using his teleportation magic.

Lucy is left there, feeling the unbearable pain and collapsing under the moons light. A line of golden stars show up on her shoulder and she meets the God of Fire, Seraptham, in her unconscious state.

And this is how their story truly begins.

And there you have it peeps. Nalu in my AU. I dunno how good this one is but I might do some more if anyone is interested. I may even rewrite my actual chapters of this and post them as well, thoughts?
