The sun was just beginning to rise over Magnolia when Lucy Heartfilia walked into the Fairy Tail guildhall, her celestial keys jingling softly at her side. She wore a determined expression, hoping to find a mission that would both challenge her and help her grow stronger. Her eyes landed on a freshly pinned job request: “Urgent help needed in the village of Hirmina – monster terrorizing townspeople. Reward: 700,000 Jewel.”

Sounds serious,” Lucy murmured, pulling the paper from the board. Her fingers slowed slightly as she brought the paper closer to her face—she knew Hirmina was far from any other towns, nestled deep in the forest, and the rumors said something about the monster feeding off magic. Still, she couldn’t afford to turn this down—not just for the money, but to prove something to herself.

The journey to Hirmina took two days. When she arrived, the village was quiet—too quiet. The blonde could feel the remnants of fear in the air. The villagers explained that a dark creature had appeared a week ago from the nearby ruins, attacking at night and stealing the villagers’ magic energy.

That night, Lucy set out alone, following the villagers rumors of the beast and the fading traces of magic to the ruins. Her heart pounded as she descended into the dark stone temple. The moment she crossed the threshold, a chilling growl echoed through the halls.

A snare was heard followed by loud footsteps pounding on the floor..

Thud.. thud.. thud

Right towards.. her.

Lucy turned to face her opponent panicked. She saw a beastly face with glowing red eyes and a gaping mouth that radiated hunger. Lucy summoned Sagittarius first, arrows flying fast and hard, but the creature dodged with terrifying speed. She followed with Leo—Loke himself—but even he struggled, his magic draining rapidly

“Lucy, this thing... it’s eating our power!” Loke warned, flickering from exhaustion.

“I know,” Lucy whispered, gripping her keys tighter and shutting her eyes, hitting herself in frustration. “I’m not strong enough…”

The thought pierced her like an arrow. What was she doing here? She wasn’t Erza or Natsu. She was just Lucy—just a girl with some keys and dreams far bigger than her strength.

She fell to her knees as the creature lunged, claws like shadows reaching for her.

But then she heard them—the voices of her friends in her heart. Natsu cheering her on. Erza telling her to stand tall. And Aquarius, with her usual harshness: “Get up, you idiot. You’re stronger than this.”

“No,” Lucy said through gritted teeth, standing up. “I am strong enough.”

Clutching her keys, she took a deep breath, heart pounding. “This is it… I have to try it now.”

She held up two golden keys: Leo and Virgo.

”Star Dress Mix: Leo x Virgo Form!”

Lucy’s outfit changed, and a pair of rather cute fairy wings appeared on her back. The monster charged again, but Lucy met it head-on, dodging with inhuman reflexes, her movements smooth and calculated. She crossed her arms in front of her, getting ready to cast a spell.

O light of Regulus, O simmer of Spica! Leon Maiden!”

A burst of light emerged from her, temporarily blinding her—and most likely her opponent as well. The ruins lit up like a starfield, and the shadow monster let out a guttural scream as it dissolved into particles of light, finally defeated. Once the light faded she took a deep breath, feeling the fatigue build up.

The villagers cheered when Lucy returned at dawn. They called her a hero, but she didn’t feel like one—not because she hadn’t done something incredible, but because she’d finally realized something:

She didn’t need to be Natsu or Erza.

She just needed to be Lucy Heartfilia.

And that was enough.
