It's still the 31st where I am so it counts right

Got nothing much to say about this one other than I really enjoyed writing it! The songs that are featured in the story is what inspired me to write it!

I'm quite happy with this story, so I hope that you like it too!

Mont Leonis x Reader

Idol Interview

“We’re on in five!”

Mont withdrew the breath he was holding, fiddling with his dark navy-blue tie before moving onto his hair, shifting his braid into different positions on his shoulder.

“Hey, hey.” The black-haired woman who sat across from him called for his attention in a low tone. “It’s alright. Just calm down and take a breath.” She moved her hands in an up and down motion by her chest, Mont following her instruction. He felt his body physically loosening, his shoulders untensing with each inhalation and exhalation. She gave him a bright smile when she saw this, nodding her head. Feeling more relaxed now, he decided to look around the studio he was in.

A small glass coffee table with wooden legs that had a white vase with white cala lilies filled the space between him and the female interviewer. The sound of his heel tapping quickly against the floor was muffled by the white fuzzy carpet that was underneath the white leather sofas that were in the room. The large television screens that were lining the fake wall were turned on, but looked like they were in screen saving mode rather than displaying the logo of the show that was to go live soon. Looking towards his right, he groaned inwardly at seeing some people fiddling with the large black cameras that were pointed at him, others yelling instructions at each other.

The lady laughed, seeing Mont tense up again. “Nervous, huh?”

“I don’t know how you do this without being nervous, let alone having to do it every day.” She chuckled.

“You get used to it after a while.” He raked his hands through his hair with a sigh, freezing when another woman groaned and came up to him. She lifted his head, brushing his bangs cleanly back into place.

“Don’t touch your hair.” She scolded whilst pointing the hairbrush at him before walking off.

“S-Sorry…!” Mont called after her with an embarrassed laugh. A brown-haired man holding a clipboard with a pencil tucked behind his ear caught everyone’s attention with his next words, making Mont’s heart sink into the soles of his shoes from terror.

“We’re on in ten seconds, get ready people!”

“You’ll do great.” The interviewer whispered her final words of encouragement before turning towards the cameras and grinning widely. “Hello, and welcome to Stars Backstage! I’m Mariana, and on today’s show, we have an up-and-coming singer, Mont Leonis!” The moment she said his name, he heard the cameras shifting their positions to get a shot of him. It didn’t calm his nerves to think that behind those cameras, millions of people were sat in their homes and watching his every movement. That thought led into ing that while he didn’t know all of these people, there was one amongst them who he did know, his biggest and number one fan who would him no matter what: you.

Well, you know what they say; fake it until you make it.

Putting on the most genuine smile he could muster, he greeted Mariana.

“Thank you for having me.”

“Oh it’s no trouble. Fans of the show have been bombarding us for an interview with you, so we just had to get you on.” They both laughed simultaneously, Mariana’s demeanor suddenly changing into an ever-curious one. “Who are you wearing?” She gestured towards his black suit and dress shoes, a small silver chain hanging off his pants.

“Calvin Klein.” He responded; a bit cooler this time. Was this all an interview was? Just someone asking random questions?

“Oh yeah! You were sponsored by them recently to promote their new clothing line, weren’t you?”

“Yes, I was.”

“What was that like?” She titled her head. Mont chuckled internally. She seemed genuinely interested in his responses to her questions. Her inquisitiveness helped immensely in making him forget that he was being watched by millions, feeling more like he was engaging in a casual conversation instead.

“I was actually surprised that such a big brand would ask someone like me to promote something for them. I’m not that big of a singer yet so I didn’t think I would be of much help, but I was told that after the campaign, their sales went up by…a lot, so I’m happy I was able to a business as large as theirs.”

“You also collaborated with a very renowned game amongst Final Fantasy fans, War of The Visions, correct?”

“Yeah, I appeared in the game as a limited summonable character and they featured a couple of my songs for the event. Playing video-games is a casual hobby of mine, so seeing myself actually being in one was a really exciting experience. What’s really funny though is that I wasn’t even able to summon myself for my party, so maybe I’ll have better luck during a rerun.” Both him and Mariana shared in a laugh.

“Alright, alright.” She waved a hand as a sign to move on. “So, your singing career. How did it all begin?” He paused, looking down at the floor for a moment.

“Not terribly well, I’m afraid.” He replied with a shrug. “I struggled a lot at first, not to find my path with the music itself, but more of the fact that nobody around me really ed me. Most of my family are the heads of a large corporate entity which I didn’t want to be a part of because of my dream to be a singer. So…their response was to cut me out. My mother was ready to me fully despite that, but she ed away before my career could really take off. Over time though, the more I started making music, the more I realized that I don’t really need my family or close friends to me, as long as I could make others happy or relate with what I make.”

“Do you resent your family for cutting you out of their lives? Surely, by leaving their company, you lost a lot of emotional and financial .”

“No, no, no, not at all. It was my choice in the end, and I’m happy to say that I don’t regret it. As for the emotional and financial I lost, I got it back tenfold from the fans that have ed me so far. I wouldn’t be sitting here today if not for them.”

Ugh, such an overused line.

But it was true nevertheless. He meant every word he said.

“A lot of…” Mariana paused, humming as she tried to think of the right words. “non-ers, let’s say, are saying that you only became famous because Rain, who’s one of the most popular rappers at the moment, decided to do a song together with you.”

“Well, I’m not going to deny that and say that it isn’t true. Us working together is what really propelled my career forward. Rain has an incredibly large audience, so it’s no surprise that I was able to grow my own because of him. He’s a good guy and an absolute joy to work with, and I’m forever grateful that we worked together and that I gained a friend who’s as ionate about music as I am.”

“While we’re on the topic of your music and fans, people are suspecting that your most recent song, ‘ Secret Lover ’, is about your current romantic partner that you have yet to reveal to the public. So…” She chuckled. “is it?” There it is. That accursed question. He *knew* that it would be brought up eventually. This was the one and only question he’s practiced the response to and gone over and over with you the few days before coming onto this show. He was full well aware how crazy fans, especially female ones, would go out of their way to find and harass you and try to force you both to get separated.

He couldn’t let that happen at any cost. When all of his family had shunned and abandoned him, you were there to help him pick up any broken pieces, both of you fashioning together something even more beautiful from the bits of his heart that was left. When it seemed like no one else was with him and it felt like the entire world was against him, you were there. You were the one who encouraged him to follow his dream when he was on the verge of giving up and ready to call back his parents and beg for forgiveness. You were the one who helped him build his portfolio and send it out to various record labels until someone took an interest in him and picked him up. You were the one who took the time and energy to spread word about his music through word of mouth to your friends, your family, your coworkers, almost anyone who cared to listen, who in turn spread it to their friends, their families, their coworkers, and so on. While he did indeed have a lot of help from others within the industry, he was content with thinking that much of the credit for his career was yours.

So of course, for your sake, he lied.

“No,” He said, a tad too curtly for his liking. The tone of his voice shifted to a calmer one afterward. “unfortunately, it isn’t. I’m not interested in seeing anyone at the moment, it’s just that I find that love is a common topic, if not one of the most common topics, that people can relate to, even if sometimes it can be on the more…mature side.” He giggled. “Sometimes I get comments from people saying that they don’t particularly like the lyrics of some of my more mature songs, but can still find enjoyment in them because of the beats.”

“I see, I see…I completely agree with them, by the way. There’s always something to enjoy with your music!”

Crisis averted; it seems.

Mont mentally sighed in relief, not having too much time to think about how much he had protected you with his response as Mariana carried on the conversation.

***

Hearing three knocks at your door, you jumped up from your white leather sectional couch and practically sprinted towards it, already knowing who it was. You threw your arms around him in an almost bone-crushing hug, jumping up and down with happiness.

“You did such a good job, Mont!” You pulled back before he had a chance to return your hug, moving to unfasten his tie.

“You caught it all live?”

“Of course I did, silly! And you were great!” You turned behind him to help him take off his suit jacket, tossing it and the tie onto the nearby wooden coat rack to put away properly later. “Much more calm and confident than when we practiced!”

Mont sat down on the couch with an outward breath, you standing a couple of meters away right beside the entrance to your open kitchen. “Do you want anything? Water? Coffee? Iced-tea?”

“Just some water is fine.”

“The esteemed singer Mont Leonis wants just a water? This just in, Mont’s taste is drinks is super super bland.”

“(Y/N)…” Mont drew out your name in a ‘please-stop-bullying-me’ way, making you stick out your tongue teasingly before grabbing a glass. Once you had brought it to him, you sat down beside him on the couch, the still-working TV becoming background noise in your comfortable silence. After a moment, you leaned your head on his shoulder.

“Hey Mont?”

“Yeah?”

“Thanks for not…outing me in front of the whole world. I know how most celebrity relationships can work out, and while it’s not guaranteed that that will happen to us…I don’t want to risk it.”

“You didn’t have to thank me for that, (Y/N). We made an agreement after all.” He pet your head. “It’s my job to keep you safe now.” You hummed a laugh.

“Top secret scoop: nobody will ever know how kind and caring my boyfriend is. Just me.” The fact that this was true made you saying it all the more special. Your heart swelled merely at the thought.

“Well, I’ve got a secret of my own. The one that I love is the most ive person I know, and I’d give up everything I have just to continue to be with them.”

“Aw, you.” You raised your head to place a kiss on his cheek. “I love you, you dork.” He hummed in response.

“I love you more.”
