Could be. I was practicing the pattern without considering the material, so it does look a bit rigid (might be metal or ¿leather?).

Now that I look closely, it looks more like intertwined leather strips than chainmail (which usually has many different interlocking mechanisms and patterns found in different cultures)
Overall, nice detail!
