Had a random shower thought
"
Babies can't be misgendered because they don't have a gender, and gender doesn't develop in kids til around 3
Babies don't know what gender is, let alone theirs"
This random thought got me absolutely ridiculed
By a friend of mine
He told me that was stupid that ofc Babies have genders and that only I think about that 'gender shit' and kids being assigned a gender by default based on their sex is the normal thing that I'm being weird
That I shouldn't talk all this social construct shit
Even though I never mentioned anything social
I feel like my heart is crumbling
He said this was the stupidest talk we'd ever had
And hung up
He ghosted me for 5 minutes before saying he needs to go to bed and he'll see me soon
I feel absolutely stomped on
I feel like a freak
I can't help but feel a lot of the things we're taught are normal and natural. They are just social meddling
Like he s trans people supposedly but then goes and does this??
I probably shouldn't have texted back nicely
I probably shouldn't have apologised
I'm depressed af rn
Can anybody help?

Ur friend acted like a jerk but I think u kinda both have a point. I think its more up to the parent, like I've heard of some people using they/themon their babies so that they're not forced into a gender so young
I mean as a trans person I kinda agree with him. It’s the same way that animals don’t have genders but you still call them pronouns based on their sex. Babies still have pronouns, wether they want to change that later is up to them but until that point they’re a he / she

Yeah it was kind of just a random thought I didn't bounce it around my head
Technically they don't have a gender identity
But I can see how it works with animals
I'm more taken aback by how strongly he reacted to what I thought was a harmless random thought
