Ok hello and welcome to my very long first theory ever posted on this amino.
So the focus will be around a new reality competition series that premiered about three weeks ago called "The Masked Singer".
For those that don't know what this series is it's basically a singing competition where 12 famous celebrities (singers, academy award winners, hall of fame players, etc) compete against each other. However the catch is that all twelve of them are disguised from head to toe in these very elaborate costumes and no one knows who they are so it leaves everyone to theorize and guess who is behind the mask. By the end of each episode the person who loses the match overall has to unmask.
For me I'm going to break this down with the clues and research to who each of the twelve possibly are starting with the first three episodes. P.S. for those who watch it you already know three of them but I'm going to include them anyway so let's get started.
Episode 1;
To begin, for the premiere episode you're introduced to the first half of the contestants and you have three match ups.
Peacock VS. Hippo
Monster VS. Unicorn
Deer VS. Lion
First face off, Peacock VS. Hippo
Peacock: The first one to perform was the peacock. To start it off each performance a video package for the contestant is shown to give some clues to who's under the mask.
Signature clues;
1: according to the video clues the peacock has performed on stage since he was 5 years old. And he possibly has experience with playing the piano. Not to mention he said he choose to be the peacock because they both love the spotlight.
2: for a split second in the video you see the peacock do a trick with these cards. Now it may not mean much but if you study magicians they are known to sometimes do the very same thing with the cards. It means he either is a magician or was part of a magic show.
3: the peacock mentions that it has probably been a while since "your mom had a poster of me on their wall". This indicates he was famous in the past, popular enough that he was like the talk of all fangirls of that time.
4: In the video he pets a small dog statue. This can mean one of two things. The first is he's a dog owner which doesn't really narrow things or there's something connected to dogs he was part of such as a movie for example.
5: Whoever is under the mask of the peacock was best buds with Michael Jackson and even quoted him.
Judges clue: After his performance singing a song from The Greatest Showman the peacock gave one more clue to the judges which was that he was part of a magic act so that narrows things to at least the card clue.
Hippo;
Signature clues;
1: when he's first seen he's in a diner and is served breakfast. He talks about how he knows it's the most important meal of the day. That isn't much to start with but at least he eats well Lol.
2: the hippo says he's a competitor who is used to performing in front of a bunch of people. His outfit says rapper but it means he could possibly not be someone from the singer category.
3: This is the big clue where he says every time he wins he has got to dance "even if it gets him in trouble". In football there has been a fine given to players for dancing in the end zone under the consequence " too much celebration".
4: By the time the hippo finished eating he gets the bill but it's the amount on it that is the clue. $10,000 which also ties it back to the third clue I listed.
Judges clue: after the performance the hippo provides the clue that he's played in five bowls. Hence another confirmation that it's a football player.
2nd face off Monster VS. Unicorn.
Monster: in match two the first to perform is the monster.
Signature clues;
1: the monster says he is one because people labeled him that. So it's unclear but maybe a bad reputation.
2: in the package he says he was at the top of his game until the game turned against him. That determines not very clearly but it's between singer or athlete.
3: the monster states he retreated to his cave to escape the public eye. Now the first thing that comes to mind is either someone did time in jail but the more obvious one that makes sense is he most likely took a hiatus.
4: I didn't consider this at first myself but in the video men are seen dressed in black and white suits in the video too at random pop ups. Now that I look again the movie trio men in black 1,2, and 3 come to mind. Major clue there.
Judges clue: when the monster finished his performance one judge asked the monster if he's a good singer. He responded by saying "not to everyone". In general this is showing that he is trying to repair a reputation.
Unicorn: monster's opponent.
Signature clues;
1: at around the start of it it's discovered that whoever the unicorn is grew up in the all time famous Beverly hills.
2: She states that someone she ires said she was tone deaf. Clearly this clue states she's probably sang in front of someone before, someone she idolizes.
3: For this part the unicorn is seen sitting down but harsh words and criticism are flashed on her. In general this is someone who has tried to make it in some kind of career. However, what stands out is the voices you hear, a British man, a woman, and another man. My mind immediately jumps to someone who was auditioning on shows like American idol or America's got talent.
There weren't any other significant standouts from the video clues so she is a bit harder. And I can't her judge clue so apologies.
Match 3; Deer VS. Lion.
Deer;
Signature clues;
1: According to the deer he choose that costume for deers being fierce competitors. Connected to this as well is he is seen holding a trophy of sorts and the antlers get wrapped in bandages. Combining all those together indicates he is a fighter of some sort or maybe a football player.
2: the deer says he considers himself a singer but he also its that people don't get past who he is and what he's known for. Clearly this indicates he wants to sing but whatever career he was in is what he's better known for so the competition was him finally letting people hear his voice.
3: this is the major giveaway clue that the person behind the mask of the deer was a football player. He mentions specifically "Ravens beware" in mentioning the Baltimore Ravens. In general he's part of a team that went up against them and possibly lost since he says "because I'm here to win" hence keyword possibly.
Judges clue: after he performed the deer gave the vaguest clue to the judge when they questioned him saying "I love horses". It doesn't seem like much because it could mean he raises horses, rode horses, is part of a horse related football team, etc. Any of it.
Fan catch!!: the viewers though we're able to catch another detail. When the deer performed he hardly moved around the stage. In result that narrowed down options to him possibly being an older man and most likely retired from his career.
Lion;
Signature clues;
1: according to the lion she is performing for the first time without any conditions regarding who she is. She must have a life with parental fame.
2: the lion says she's sometimes known as " Hollywood royalty ". This shows she's from a career of most likely being an actress. Or she is in a family with actor and actress parents.
3: She states that's she's stepping away from her pride and standing on her own. In general she is pretty much wanting to stand out from the crowd and like Robin in the judges stated " someone who wants to prove themselves ".
Judges clue: the lion says there are a lot of women in her pride. She is stepping away from that to stand out.
Let the theories begin from majority guess!!!:
1st: Peacock =Donny Osmond
Why is it Donny: From fan check, viewers via social media and studies on him here is why the peacock is possibly Donny.
1: When Donny first performed he was only 5 years old which connects to the first clue from the video and the peacock saying performance is in his DNA.
2: He was part of a magic show unfortunately it's unknown who was the magician.
3. Back in the day he was a teen heartthrob so posters of him lined bedroom walls and he also was best buds with Michael Jackson.
4. The dog statue might reference to his song "Puppy Love" which came out in 1972.
5. The peacock itself is a possible reference to his run in Broadway show "Joseph and the amazing technicolor trenchcoat".
6: the stage presence of the peacock in general seems to show he's a performer.
Why can't it be Donny Osmond?: he's not the only performer from Vegas with experience and looking to make a come back to the stage. So it could be anyone.
2nd: Hippo=Odell Beckham Jr.
Why Odell?
In general he fits all the clues given by the hippo and he's known for dancing in the end zone a lot.
Why not Odell: he's not the only player who is guilty of " too much celebration " so it puts numerous options into the mix.
3rd: Monster=T-Pain
Why T-Pain?
1: like the monster said T-Pain was at the top of his game with an excellent singing career around mid-2000's but because of his use of autotune not everyone saw him as a "real singer"
2: this is a redemption from a hiatus he'd want.
Why isn't it T-Pain: a majority of the clues may fit but there are others who have been where he was. So there's still the chance it isn't him.
4th: Unicorn=Tori spelling.
Why tori spelling?:
1: like in the video she's born in Beverly hills growing up in a rich neighborhood with her father being a producer and she was in a lot of his shows.
2: She didn't have the best childhood and even wrote three books around it.
3. I didn't know this at first but the unicorn mentioned bird. It was a nickname of tori's and bird in Japanese is pronounced tori.
Why is it not tori: not all the clues to me fit and the unicorn's song choice was out of her vocal range.
5th: Deer=Terry Bradshaw
Why is it Terry?
1: back in the day he was part of the team the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Steelers have a major hate for the Baltimore ravens.
2: the deer was saying how he considers himself a singer and Terry had a singing career releasing 5 albums.
3: there's a southern drawl in the way the deer talks which connected more to Terry's past including the fact he sang country music.
4: he's 70 years old which ties to the fact the deer hardly moved when he performed.
Why is it not Terry?: the voices don't match and he isn't the only one out there most likely from a football background.
6th: Lion=Rumer Willis.
Why is it Rumer?
1: in connection to the Hollywood royalty comment she's the daughter of actor Bruce Willis and actress Demi Moore.
2: she comes from a "pride" with two other women named Scout and Tallulah Belle.
3: Deep Google search reveals that her birth constellation is also a Leo.
4: She also can sing which the lion shows she knows how to.
5: also from Google research Rumer had a lion tattoo at one time but she removed it.
Why can't it be Rumer: all clues line up to her so it's hard to find a contradiction.
My thoughts and theories:
I agree with a lot of them but to the case of the unicorn I don't fully agree.
Even though she's not born in Beverly hills and i don't know her childhood my mind was thinking Lindsey Sterling because she tried getting forward in a talent but was always shot down or someone else mostly due to the criticism stated and the voice tones.
Weakest performer: hippo
Unmasked: Antonio Brown.
Results: the guesses were all wrong for the majority but he fit the clues because of the Steelers victories, he is known for eating massive breakfasts and he was fined 10,000 for end zone dancing.
Episode 2;
The other half of the participants are introduced for the competition in the following matches
Rabbit VS. Alien
Pineapple VS. Raven
Poodle VS. Bee
First match: rabbit vs alien.
Rabbit;
Significant clues;
1: the rabbit says he's always performed but never alone. This indicates he was most likely part of a group.
2: He mentioned that he now pops up everywhere. In the connection to the group this indicates it most likely disbanded and he's been soloing a lot and probably doing other things too.
3: the checklist description possibly hints that he's also performed in a mask before. He also comments that "it's gonna be me" for being the last mask standing.
Judges clue: he just confirms he was part of a group.
Alien;
Significant clues;
1: the alien says she grew up in the public eye and her life was never her own. This indicates she's part of a famous family but she lacked individuality.
2: Like the lion she's stepping out on her own to prove herself. She wanted to let them see her as an individual.
3: She's from a life of being controlled. Two famed families come in immediately to mind. However she also says her voice will finally be heard on her own .
Judges clue: the alien says she has lots of sisters. It could go in many ways.
Match 2: Pineapple VS. Raven.
Pineapple:
1: to start with he talks about why he's the pineapple. But the mention of him going well with ham could also indicate he might have been a comedian.
2: He mentioned that he beat a life threatening disease during some dark times in his life. My thoughts go to someone who's beat cancer but there's other kinds of diseases out there.
3: Mentioning OG and saying he's been in public eyes for decades indicates he's an older gentleman.
4: the licence plate indicates he's most likely from Michigan.
Don't recall his judge clue.
Raven;
Significant clues;
1: the raven says she talks a lot and always draws an audience. This could indicate she is or was a talk show hostess.
2: she listens to others stories and is normally sunny. This also could tie to the talk show theory.
3: the raven mentioned she suffered a tragic loss recently so like a phoenix she is doing this to honor her beloved. This indicates she's married at least so a husband.
4: "don't cry baby, this one is for you". This quote can go one of two ways. One is it's a movie line or she's just talking about this performance being dedicated to her lost love.
I can't the judge clue.
Match 3: Poodle VS. Bee.
Poodle;
Significant clues;
1: the poodle says she loves taking a stage and becoming a character and says she choose the poodle because they're both " sassy, smart, and best in show ". This indicates she could maybe be an actress.
2: the pictures indicate she's from San Fransisco.
3: she says she's from a musical family but she's famous for a different talent. Then she says "415 stand up". She also is lifting weights. This could indicate she's either someone who exercises or she's a stand up comedian.
4: the rainbow that shows behind the poodle and her mention of exercising her rights of free speech indicate she's probably either with the LGBTQ+ community or she's an activist for it.
5: " you better work ". That quote could indicate actress or singer.
Judges clue: the clue is confusing when she says " I'm here for your honor ". So I'm not certain how that works.
Bee;
Significant clues;
1: the bee says she's soared to heights in her long career. This immediately says that she's definitely an older woman.
2: when she says " you can call me queen bee but empriss also suits me " this showed that this could be a possible nickname she's known by.
3: she says she's ready to sing for a new generation which this would indicate she is definitely a professional singer.
Judges clue: when she finishes her performance she indicates that she started performing around the 50s when she's asked that question. That confirmed she's an older woman.
Majority theory:
1: rabbit=joey fatone.
Why joey fatone: he was part of the syncro singing group N'Sync which has disbanded and many have persued solo careers in different areas.
The rabbit's wardrobe shows a connection to the N'sync song "I drive myself crazy".
" it's gonna be me " also is an N'Sync song.
Why is it not joey: he's not the only member in the group and N'Sync isn't the only group that disbanded. Plus joey himself unfortunately confirmed via Twitter that he's not the rabbit.
2: Alien=Latoya Jackson
Why it's Latoya: As sister of Michael Jackson it does fit the bill to the alien's statement of growing up in the public eye.
She has two sisters in her family.
"No one will ever control me again" could be referencing to her album control.
The snake in the clue video might be connected to the 1979 shoot of Jackson's "Playboy" where she appears with a snake around her.
Why it isn't Latoya: all the clues also point to probably a member of the kardashians or the Jenners plus the fact the alien walks like a model and looks like a model.
3: pineapple=tommy chong
Why Tommy: researching into him it shows he has a career in comedy and acting.
He was diagnosed with two different kinds of cancer at different times and he beat both of them.
He has been around for years and still going.
He comes from Michigan and "up in smoke" is also the name of a movie he starred in.
Why not tommy: there's no possible reason why it isn't. But his co star cheech is also a possibility.
4: Raven=Ricki Lake
Why it's Ricki: she used to be a talk show hostess for her own show.
In 2017 her husband committed suicide so that's a tragic loss.
When she starred in her version of hairspray it took place in Baltimore. Home of the ravens.
The Raven's quote "so don't cry baby... This one is for you" possibly references the 1990 film "Cry Baby" which starred Ricki.
Why not Ricki: the only reason I can think it's not Ricki is she's not the only one who does or has done a talk show. And she is most likely not the only celebrity who suffered a recent tragic loss of a husband.
5: Poodle= Margaret Cho.
Why Margaret: like in the pictures she's a resident of San Francisco.
She has made quite the career as a stand up comedian.
She is openly bisexual so that connects the rainbow.
The moment where the poodle is on the phone could reference to when she worked as a phone operator.
In 2010 she did release an album called cho dependent and has sung on it.
I just learned via YouTube comments that The line "you better work" also is referenced to RuPaul's drag race where she was a guest judge one time.
Why not cho: the moment where the poodle is seen exercising with the weights is the clue that throws things off and shows the poodle might not be Margaret.
6th: Bee=Gladys Knight.
Why Gladys: like the bee said to the judges Gladys had a career that began in the 50s. She won a show called "Ted Mack's the original amateur hour" at the age of 7, formed a group called the pips with her siblings and her cousins and they toured in the late 50's.
She had never stopped singing and wants to keep going. Plus she's known as "The Empriss of Soul" which connects to the bee saying she prefers being called empriss over queen bee.
Why not Gladys: there were not many clues given in this case. And she isn't the only soul artist still going even today.
My thoughts and theories:
Rabbit: since Joey confirmed he isn't the rabbit is shows a lot of the clues were most likely red herrings. To me I still consider a member of N'Sync is behind the mask but some of the creepy vibes around the rabbit including the strait jacket makes me think Brendon Urie from panic at the disco might be a possibility. But I can't say for certain
Alien: LaToya would kinda make sense but I'm actually going to go with my sister's theory on this and she actually gave a very detailed explanation to why it's possibly Kendall Jenner behind the mask. (For privacy reasons I've crossed her name out).
Pineapple: I'm not sure so I abstain.
Raven: doing some research myself I agree at the raven possibly being Ricki.
Poodle: Margaret Cho does fit some of the clues but the exercising thing is throwing me off.
Bee: my mother agrees that it's Gladys and after looking myself at possibilities I agree.
Weakest performer: pineapple
Result: everyone was correct and it was tommy chong.
Why it's Tommy: all the clues connect together to him. He had the two cancers, he starred in "Up in Smoke", but the big one was the license plate. It was Tommy's day he was born and his first initial.
Episode 3;
It's round two of the fight between the peacock, the monster, the unicorn, the deer and the lion.
Lion;
New clues:
1: the signs and courage show she is a protestor of sorts. Female empowerment.
2: the newspaper article indicates something connected to Hailey. But it's unknown if it's a name, a place, etc.
3: she is questioned on if she has gold or platinum albums to which she replies she doesn't have any gold or platinums yet. Clearly she has a singing career but she's not like a top artist at the moment.
Peacock;
New clues:
1: he's had many incarnations of his career so he's done a lot.
2: he started small but then he soon was cast in dramatic rolls. This ties back to being an actor or someone from Broadway.
3: he has a fear of heights. Common but still.
4: to the judges he clued in that he has performed in Vegas. That ties back to the Vegas clues.
Unicorn;
New clues:
1: she references back to the childhood saying she "lost her sheen". It's uncertain precisely what she means.
2: she mentions she's going to exhibit model behavior. This could mean she is a model possibly.
3: she says she's going for gold. This leans more to her maybe being someone into gymnastics.
I don't her new judge clue.
Deer;
New clues:
1: the car commercial shows that he possibly was part of car commercials.
2: the throwing shows he is most likely a quarterback.
Fan giveaway: the deer needed help off his platform. This confirms the fact he's an older man
Spotted!!!: the way he laughed and moved his shoulders is the give up.
Monster;
New clues:
1: he came from the south and most likely is someone who moved to new York.
2: he talks about getting back in the swing of things. In general he's someone who loves to party.
I can't recall the judges clue.
My standpoint:
All my theories mostly stand at the same, but the unicorn could now potentially be a gymnast.
And the lion now leans more towards someone ing women power.
And the monster could possibly be Jamie foxx.
Weakest performer: Deer.
Survey says: the majority was correct and the deer turned out to be Terry Bradshaw.
Results to why it's Terry:
All clues tie to him. He was a Steeler, he did country albums, the "I love horses" comment referenced to the fact he raised horses, but the significance was how he laughed. That was the giveaway.
My conclusion: there's still so many performances to go but I'm standing by a lot of the theories especially the peacock possibly being Donny Osmond. But the unicorn and the rabbit are the most interesting ones to consider and are the ones that really keep you guessing.
However that is just a theory!
