I didn’t make any mention of making a part 2 of this post, but I realized that there are some great trigger ideas that I have missed out on. Since I haven’t posted in a week, I’m going to share 5 more trigger ideas I have in mind.

#1 Distort

This trigger would be similar to the shake trigger. What it’d basically do is distort a certain group of objects. The amount of distortion should also be modified to have some really screwed up blocks to some slightly slanted blocks. I can see this trigger being quite useful even though putting in an excessive amount of distortion will always look unprofessional. It may even help in art as you could distort the individual objects used to create the art in case the shape isn’t as perfect as expected. The trigger may have also have problems with concentration in levels, but then again people would know what’s too little and what’s too much.

#2 Darkness

Several great levels out there like Dark Travel and Allegiance have areas of the level where it’s dark and a circle surrounds you in light kind of like in Mario. Darkness effects must be hard to create, so a trigger for them would be quite useful. First off, you’d be able to modify the opacity of the darkness effect so that it could be completely black or blackish gray. Second off, you should be able to expand the amount of “light” your player gives as you progress through the darkness. You shouldn’t be the only light source though. There should be a second part to the darkness trigger where there’s something called a “light group.” What this basically means is that a certain group of objects will also produce a circle of light of your choice, although fire related decorations and such would probably be the most expected to give off light. The amount of light it gives should also be able to be changed so that objects would give a more logical Amino of brightness. For example, a large fireball would produce more light than a small torch. Of course it’s the player’s decision-if my pointless ideas even get added.

#3 Random

Have you ever wanted something in your level to be a bit randomized so people can’t just memorize it? Well, that’s exactly what this trigger is for. You could give certain objects the chance of appearing occasionally such as more or less clouds in one attempt or slightly different coloration. Although they aren’t all that big in GD, these could also be used for quizzes. This would prevent people from recognizing a pattern, forcing them to answer from fact. How exactly this trigger would work is something that couldn’t be explained by me, but I’m sure you’d need tiggers like move, alpha, and rotate to make the trigger work. There’s not much left to say about this trigger.

#4 Ignore Damage

This trigger would probably be very useful? It’s exactly what it sounds like. You have the power to ignore the damage from certain objects. You may think that this trigger helps you cheat, but it more or less gives you more opportunities for decoration. Ever wanted to put a bunch of saw blades in your background but there’s too many in the way that they kill you regardless? How about add some background monsters to add to the aesthetic? There’s so many more uses for this trigger that I don’t have the time to think of at the moment. We absolutely need this trigger. With it no clip will become a thing of the past and all you have to do is set all of the objects in a level to an ignore damage group.

#5 Background Change

I didn’t make any mention of making a part 2 of this post, but I realized th

I know what you’re thinking. This is obviously in the game and I only put this here since I’m

running out of ideas. That’s not the case. When I mean background change, I don’t mean the color of the background. I mean I want a trigger that changes the actual background. For example, you’d have the default background and then the background change trigger would change it to the Electrodynamix bubble background. Sure people have used custom backgrounds in the past, but I feel like the addition of this trigger would excite many people as their level no longer has to take place in just one location. This honestly should’ve been in the game a long time ago. In fact, I’ve wanted it since 1.9. That’s quite a long time if you ask me.

That’s all for yet another generic post of mine. It looks like I post weekly now. I will be entering Berboll’s contest in case you were wondering. I have an icon idea in mind that I’ll draw and color on paper, so don’t steal my idea even though you have no idea what it is. Even if you do use my idea without knowing I have a backup.
