My top 5 creators | 2020

Hi guys, I dont usually post but I thought I'd make a post or two because I'm close to level 15.

DISCLAIMER: this post is purely opinion, please feel free to comment your own list if you like. But please dont be mean to anyone's list if it differs from yours. Thanks!!

I made a post around 2 to 3 years ago where I discussed a few of my favorite creators around that time. That list is outdated now that newer creators and new creating styles have recently started to rise in popularity. I still really adore all of the levels those creators created but in this post I will focus more on the creators who are frequently active today. The goal of this post is to reccomend some creators to players for various reasons, for whatever reason that may be. (The list is kinda in order. Not really tho. I like these creators mostly the same lol)

Along with each creator I will feature one of their levels in this post to show examples of their good levels.

NUMBER 5

danzmen

The reason I put danzmen here is because of his quantity of pretty quality levels. The best part of his levels in my opinion is the gameplay: Challenging, fast, and syncs really well to the music. The decoration and effects aren't as good as everyone else on the list but still quite amazing nonetheless. His frequent of easy demons makes his levels very popular among the easy demon slayers and they aren't always a pain to beat. The sheer quantity of these levels are what really keep danzmen as a great creator though.

This is a great example of a danzmen level: good song, good effects, funny name, fun gameplay. Danzmen likes to use funny names in his levels and I feel like that a great quality for a level and adds a bit of character. Sorry this is a short one but there isn't much to talk about, you have to play his levels to understand.

NUMBER 4

Subwoofer is a creator who has a tendency to make his level very themed to something, whether that may be temple or storm themed it always is really cool to see all the effort that goes into his amazing levels.

One of my favorite levels ever was made by him and it's called torrential totems

Gameplay by viprin

The decoration and theme of the level is where it shines the most, it's a temple themed level that feels almost like it has a story to it. The effects and really nice art in the level make it very fun to play even with the average gameplay. The gameplay has nothing special to it, and at times can be annoying but the song and decoration definitely make up for it, making it one of my favorite medium demons in the game right now. If you haven't already, go play this level if you are in the mood a good medium demon.

NUMBER 3

serponge

This amazing french creator was probably my favorite creator by far back in 2.0 and early 2.1. His levels really made you feel like you were playing another game. Serponge uses the level editor like it's a coding language and creates very very magnificent creations. On top of that he is also an amazing creator for normal levels, making him a creating legend. His "all-around-ness" is in my eyes very irable and is one of the best creators to ever roam gd. The reason he isn't higher on my list is because of the time he takes to make a level and I already had him on my other list. Because of the time he takes he isnt really active to much level wise and it would be amazing to see more serponge levels in 2020.

For a serponge level I decided to look at an entire series because its just to fascinating to me to see all the amazing creations serponge has managed to make with a level editor. For anyone who doesn't know: serponge made a series of original minigames (some of them full games :o) created with the gd editor. And just in case you don't know how the editor works: there is no where to put in code or anything. He made all these games using triggers and that truly blows my mind everytime I think about it.

NUMBER 2

Davjt

Davjt is mostly known for his amazing soon-to-be trilogy: CraZy. But if you look at his profile you can see more of his amazing work. He is good at making a level feel like its supposed to design wise while also making pretty good gameplay. The effects are the most noticeable in his levels, and although they are slow to release at times, the levels never disappoint. The one thing that I am quite disappointed in is the lack of levels. But I think in some time davjt can rack up a few good levels and he can be one of the greatest creators.

I decided against talking about crazy because I'm sure there are many conversations to be had about that masterpiece of a level, but I think that this level deserves a lot more recognition than it gets. It's an medium demon with the code/virus/computer thingy design and it is executed really really well. While the gameplay is questionable the design and effects are absolutely amazing. The sheer amount of creativity, not only in this level, but in all of his levels is just astonishing. The sync in the level with the effects and gameplay is also really good. Definitely one of my favorite levels that I have yet to beat.

NUMBER 1!

jayuff

Jayuff is an amazingly good creator. His awesome gameplay design, funky songs, interesting decoration decisions. Although it seems on surface the level would turn out terribly if someone where to write the concept on a piece of paper jayuff just does it and it is amazing.

Hidden creation is a level that is not currently available to play on the gd servers. It was a level that was sent to viprin from jayuff himself and it was meant for viprin only. (But obviously he posted it on his youtube lol). The level has very cool 3D designs that translate into gameplay quite nicely and I think if anyone else tried to do this they might fail miserably (maybe I'm wrong idk). But the fact that this was meant for only viprin makes it even cooler. Jayuff obviously put a lot of effort and left the level unlisted, and in my eyes that shows his dedication to creating amazing levels.
