Bad Influence

Ma Pines doesn't trust that Sanchez boy, but at least Stan finally has a friend.

This is what I came up with for the #unpopularshipchallenge. I guess Stanchez (Stan Pines/Rick Sanchez) isn't that unpopular, but what about Kid Stanchez (unrequited love version)? I just love the idea of this loud, brilliant kid dragging around lil Stan on all of his adventures, and Stan developing a big ol crush on him.

There was a point in time where I thought I had completely ruined the sky (unfortunately I didn't get the chance to document that), but it ended up being my favorite part. I dabbed some rubbing alcohol onto the sky when it was still wet to make clouds, which made some interesting shapes but it ended up looking super weird. But once I added some shading and defined the cloud shapes some more, it ended up looking really good.

That's something scary but also really fun about traditional art. You never know when you're going to make a mistake that might ruin the whole picture, but that also gives you the chance to come up with creative solutions. I guess Bob Ross was right!

I used sepia Micron pens and watercolor paint. It took about 4 hours, including time spent waiting for the paint to dry.
