           Dear Journal,

           Today was fun.

            Everything went as expected aside from

            one event. While I was doing my rounds

            there was something that caught my eye.

           Down one of the hallways for the

            employees, one of the narrow ones that

            I honestly haven't seen anyone use

            after the newer pathways were made--

           But, anyway, there was something on the

            ground! It was a pen, a real fancy one too

           One of the ones that doesn't smudge or

            anything!

           This has to be my holiday gift! A sign for

           me to draw more and continue with art

            when the new year comes.

           It has to be from the universe or

            something, the only other thing here that

           would know how much I love art would

           have to be the shadows! That or the

            walls themselves, if any of that was

            even possible.

           I'm going to draw when I finish my shift,

           I'm so excited. Maybe the holidays aren't

            so boring after all.
