My side shave starts at the middle of my head and now I want to grow it out so my hair can be even.
What would be the best way to grow out my side shave?

when I had one I let the shave grow out for a bit and then split my hair down the middle to cover up the shave part with my long hair

Hmm okay I see. Would you be willing to have short hair? You could let the shave grow out for a while and then cut the long part to match. If not I would grow out the shave and then have a side part for a bit to let both sides grow out and then when they're both long enough and can go back to a middle part.
