Hello! First of all, thank you for reading TDT. We all really appreciate it.

Second, the idea for this clicked after I saw the theme. It involves a previous challenge I submitted an entry for more than 2 years ago.

(crazy, I know)

It is the "Trials of Who" challenge. If you didn't participate, in short, you had to take the Trials of Apollo, but make a fanfic, edit, etc. with a different god or goddess. I chose Athena, amd when I saw the theme "Gods Turned Mortal", I thought I could, in a way, continue my story.

I did edit the ending of the first part in a separate platform because I thought I may turn it into a mini fanfiction(when I have some free time).

❝ The Athena Trials: Part 2 ❞

yes I changed the title

(from the first chapter)

I pulled out the wallet to see what identity I had. The driver's license picture showed a girl about 16, with light brown hair and matching eyes. The name read 'Sofia Koritsi'. "Better than Lester Papadopoulos," I muttered, resisting a laugh. I stood, finding myself as, indeed, a girl of about 16. Brushing off my jeans, I headed out to find myself in Rockland County in New York. I knew it would take more than 24 hours to walk to camp. Great. ‘Well,’ I thought, ‘better late than never’. And so, with that, I stepped out from the alley, and onto the streets of New York.

(and now the new stuff)

Rockland seemed a small county, as it was not as crowded as Queens. I rolled down the sleeves of my jean jacket and headed southwest. At least, I hoped it was southwest. Zeus knew how much I loved solving problems without any help. After about half an hour, I found a bench along the storefronts and sat down. Despite me wearing tennis shoes(thank you, Hermes! I would not have lasted long in heels or Greecian sandals), my mortal self was telling me to take a break.

I rummaged through my gift once again and found one of the books to be an empty journal. I shuffled ‘til my head was almost inside and found a pen. I figured I’d record my journeys, as I may not everything from my endeavors on Earth. I clicked the pen, opening my journal to the first blank page. It was brown leather, the cover, with a strap going around the front cover from the back. The perfect feel for me.

So, this is where you are. In my journal. Well, not technically. You’re reading it because Zeus wanted me to record it. I’ll bet he wants to read it to all the Olympians when I come back. Anyways, after writing some, I started in the direction of the camp. What could harm me now?

Weird Thoughts

Okay, so we all know that having children of Artemis, Hera and Hestia as OCs is impossible. Hera, unlike the other two, is not an eternal maiden by oath, hut rather, bound to fidelity by her own nature. Hera has expressed that she envies the other gods for having demigods, as they allow the gods to understand the world better, She can have children, but only with Zeus, and all her children as a result would be immortal. But, here's where the twist comes. What is Zeus turns Hera mortal, and has a kid with her? Technically, that would not break her vow, and the resultant kid would be a demigod child of hers. However, the child will still probably go to Cabin 1, since Zeus is the godly parent. An alternative would be Zeus turning mortal, and having kids with Hera, but that's weird. In case that did happen, somehow, the child will technically belong to Cabin 2.

I know what you're thinking. Don't. No, you can't have this as a legitimate backstory, believe me I have asked (not for myself, I never had any idea to make such an OC). This is just a what-if

Other questions:

•If Artemis was turned mortal, then would her Hunters lose their blessings?

•If a god was pregnant with another god but they were turned mortal, what would the child be, a god, a mortal, or a demigod?

•Likewise, if a god got pregnant while they were mortal, would their child be mortal too? And what if they turned back into a god during this?

•If Hermes was turned mortal, then Olympus Delivery System would collapse. If not, then his being too busy was just an excuse :eyes:

•If Poseidon or Hades became mortal, then would their wives rule the Underworld? But what happens when it is spring, and Persephone has to leave?

•Caligula just proved that you can consume a god's essence while they are mortal. Technically, you could do that to a god as well, as in Hera's case with Gaea, but it would be a lot harder. This is probably why Zeus doesn't turn gods mortal very often.

The Real Reason Why Apollo Was Turned Mortal

Apollo being turned mortal because of Octavian's actions does not sound like a valid reason to me. Gods literally ignore their children on a daily basis, and Zeus expected Apollo to keep an eye on his great x gajillion grandson while most gods were incapacitated with headaches? I think the real reason was because Apollo let Delphi slip out of his hands, which left the gods in a sticky situation. The Oracle of Delphi is a huge part of them being able to send demigods on quests, and without it, the gods are paralysed. Similarly, while I am sure even a single Olympian could have rekt the Triumvirate, Apollo's other Oracles could not have been recovered by anybody but him. And since he had neglected them so much, that it would not have worked if he hadn't shown true repentance and humility, something which was impossible for him as a god. So, either Zeus really read the situation well, and big-brained, or he just turned Apollo mortal to put the blame on for all the things that happened during the giant war just because he was popular, handsome, and the godliest Olympian there was. Maybe it was both. Guess we'll never know!

Olympian University AU

When I suggested this theme, I left it intentionally vague and easy to twist, because… The less specific it was worded, the more likely it would be for me to get an out-of-the-box idea. And, wouldn’t you look at that? In the following… few paragraphs, I will explore what it would be like if the Olympians were not gods, but regular mortals, involved in similar activities to us, the non-divine humans reading this group edition. Most of my headcanons are based on mythology, though there are also a few Riordanverse-specific references to be found. Enjoy.

Zeus

Zeus would be the rector of our fictional Olympus University, as a parallel to his position as King of the Gods. He has, more or less, inherited the position from his father, Kronos, who was fired due to his unfair policies, affecting both his subordinates (including his son Zeus, who was at the time leading the Climate Science department) and the university’s students. Besides that, Zeus is known to be in a nightmare marriage with Hera, the university’s counsellor, with their marital problems stemming from the husband’s incessant cheating tendencies. To make things incredibly complicated between the two, it seems like a whole lot of Zeus’ illegitimate children ended up attending his university…

Hera

As mentioned before, Hera is the university’s counsellor and occasionally a substitute for a few psychology-related classes. She seems warm and approachable… to her full-blooded children, and to the students unrelated to her family drama. To the unfortunate students that happened to come from her husband’s unfaithfulness, well… When she is in a better mood, she tolerates them. When she is not… You can probably imagine.

Poseidon

One of Zeus’ older brother, Professor Poseidon teaches in the Marine Biology course. He is a lot more casual with his colleagues and students and according to Zeus, “doesn’t take his job seriously in the slightest”. Imagine the type of teacher to wear Hawaiian t-shirts regularly, extend deadlines, cancel classes when the mood isn’t right, so on and so forth. Much like his more influential brother, Poseidon is a big flirt in his own right, though his exploits aren’t under the spotlight as much as Zeus’s.

Demeter

Demeter is another member of the university’s faculty, leading the Agriculture department. She seems considerably older and more mature than the rest of the staff, on the virtue of not having any major school-related scandals to speak of.

Ares

The troublemaker, often spoken of in the gossipers’ endless rumours. His major, National Security or something, isn’t as widely known as the fights he would get in with anyone who would dare look at him the wrong way or as the affair he is having with Aphrodite, the most charming lady on campus. Seemingly, he is in constant rivalry with his half-sister, Athena, who vehemently disagrees with any positions he takes.

Athena

The resident prodigy of Olympus Academy and (arguably) her father’s greatest pride. She has already finished a couple of Bachelors courses, including Architecture and Classical Philosophy, but has recently found herself attending to her National Security classes. As per usual, she is the smartest person among her peers, much to her half-brother Ares’ annoyment.

Apollo

With his godly domains representing so much, it was hard to determine a single major he would have taken in university. In the end, I have decided on him being a med-student, with his poetry and music being the hobbies he goes to when he needs a breather. When he is not dropping dead from the amount of studying he has to do, he finds himself in the centre of messy romances that all end with his heart irreparably broken. His twin sister Artemis is quick to slap some sense in him when he starts sulking too obnoxiously.

Artemis

Artemis is currently chasing her ecology-focused degree due to her concern about the current state of the environment. Humanity was not kind to it at all. Outside of that, she is highly involved in extracurricular activities, leading her uni’s feminist club and a more closed-off circle, called the Hunt, that consists of single ladies with no interest in pursuing any relationships. Funnily enough, the name didn’t come from them, but from outsiders, who remarked how often the group went on “hunts”... which quite literally involved actual hunting in the nearby woodlands. She, alongside her closest friends, shows distaste to Aphrodite and her followers due to their contradicting belief.

Hephaestus

Hephaestus is… Well. Sike. I’m not telling you, mostly because I ran out of time and steam. Feel free to guess and speculate and to bug me to continue my ramblings at a later point :]

That is all from me. And who knows, maybe next time I will actually make something more… angsty instead of the light-hearted stuff I’ve been putting out for TDT.

•If Artemis was turned mortal, then would her Hunters lose their blessings?

- Probably not. There's no logical explanation to this because it had not happened before, but if Artemis was indeed turned mortal, the Hunters would most likely retain the blessings. Assuming this works both way with curses, lets take Apollo's Sibyl of Cumae for example, when Apollo turned Mortal, the Sibyl did not die immediately or dissapear.

•If a god was pregnant with another god but they were turned mortal, what would the child be, a god, a mortal, or a demigod?

- Demigod, the god that was formerly immortal turned mortal, at the time of the conception the god was mortal, so the child is a demigod.

•Likewise, if a god got pregnant while they were mortal, would their child be mortal too? And what if they turned back into a god during this?

- Yes.

•If Hermes was turned mortal, then Olympus Delivery System would collapse. If not, then his being too busy was just an excuse :eyes:

- Hermes probably has helpers, George and Martha, and others, assuming the ODS is self-sufficient, it probably won't collapse.

•If Poseidon or Hades became mortal, then would their wives rule the Underworld? But what happens when it is spring, and Persephone has to leave?

- Poseidon had became mortal one before, and the sea was just fine after that, although Amphitrite or Triton probably governed in his absence.

•Caligula just proved that you can consume a god's essence while they are mortal. Technically, you could do that to a god as well, as in Hera's case with Gaea, but it would be a lot harder. This is probably why Zeus doesn't turn gods mortal very often.

- Maybe, you can say Zeus thought that far, the only two other scenarios where this happened was when Poseidon and Apollo were turned mortal and Apollo's second time, you could say Zeus did it wisely but I think he was just salty.

"When he is not dropping dead from the amount of studying he has to do, he finds himself in the centre of messy romances that all end with his heart irreparably broken."

Once again, Apollo is very relatable. Srsly, at this point I have more in common with a Greek god than anyone else
