so here is a little analysis of Icarus

which I found super interesting when

listening to Icarus Falls by ZAYN

and honestly Zayn Javadd Malik is

a genius. The lyrics, the story, everything!

so I decided to dig more into Icarus and

i skimmed through the documents related

to Icarus and I really wanna share it with

you guys. I even wrote a poem for Icarus

(I'm not a poet but I try) so yeah let's get goin

𝗗𝗮𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗹𝘂𝘀᯾

Daedalus was a flawless artisan in Athens and had another artisan named Talus as his apprentice. Due to jealousy and rage he decided to push his apprentice off the rock from Acropolis which Talus survived and the charge of attempting murder was pressed on Daedalus while Goddess Athena turned the apprentice into a bird. After the crime was pressed on Daedalus, he was asked to seek refuge on Crete.

Once in the island of Minataur, he started his new life and served King Minos. He married one of the slaves named Naucrate who gave birth to Icarus.

Under the orders of Minos, he was asked to make a prison cell for the Minataur who was born of his wife and the Cretan bull.

But, instead of building a prison cell, he created a maze, Labyrinth. Daedalus was kept in the maze too because he gave Minos's daughter, Ariadne, a clew, ball of thread in order to help Theseus, the enemy of Minos, to survive the Labyrinth and defeat the Minataur.

𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀᯾

Icarus and his father decided to get out of the Labyrinth through wings his father constructed. They made wings out of wax and feathers of the birds that were near the Labyrinth.

Daedalus warned that with the wings Icarus cannot fly too close to the water because it would clog up the feathers and not too high because the wax would melt due to the heat of the sun. His father also warns him of complacency and then hubris.

Ignoring his father's warning, Icarus soared higher in the sky which resulted in melting of the wax and it eventually resulted into the fall of Icarus. The wax melted so it was just the son of Daedalus flapping his arms in the sky.

And, laws of gravitation is same for an apple and the son of a talented artisan. So Icarus finally fell in an island presently named Icaria which was an island in the Aegan Sea. The sea was also named after him, Icarian Sea.

𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲᯾

The Greek poet Pseudo-Apollodorus briefly told the story of Icarus' flight. Augustan writer Hyginus narrates it in one of his work Fabula 49 that begun with the bovine love affair of Pasiphaë, the daughter of sun, which resulted in the birth of Minataur.

Another writer named Ovide narrates the story of Icarus at some length in the metamorphoses and refers to it elsewhere. Another poet named Nikita Gill had written a work I saw in my feed while researching for the son of Daedalus. It's a really beautiful poem and it's just beyond brilliant! Here :
