Hello everyone. So this post is for everyone to read, but for people who have also read/seen the Harry Potter books or movies. We all know the iconic colors of the Heathers and Veronica, which are blue, red, yellow, and green. These also happen to be the main 4 colors of the different Hogwarts houses and I think there’s a slight connection.
Let’s start with Veronica Sawyer. Her color is blue, which is the color of Ravenclaw. The traits of a Ravenclaw are cleverness, wisdom, wit, and intellectual ability and creativity. Along with Veronica’s exceptionally high grades in school, she has a quick mind, as we can see when she pretends to have committed suicide right before JD climbs through her window towards the end. This shows one example of her creativity in a short timed situation, and ultimately makes her a true Ravenclaw.
Next up is the lovable Heather Mcnamara. Her color is yellow, and at Hogwarts, that correlated to the house Hufflepuff. Hufflepuff qualities include valuing hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play. They also have a strong moral code, a great sense of right and wrong, and are most of the time accepting of others. In the very beginning, we see that she’s the only person who seems to acknowledge how serious Heather Duke’s bulimia problem is and suggests that she see a doctor. You can hear the slight concern in her voice. Throughout the show, you see her always being somebody to trust. It starts to get clearer and clearer that any mean comment that comes out of her mouth is when Heather Chandler is around. She often puts her own problems to the side to help with her friend’s, which is why her suicide attempt isn’t until much later into the show. She also stays completely loyal to her clan of friends the whole time, never showing an ounce of more attention to other cliques. Her kindness and loyalty show through and through that she’s a Hufflepuff.
Third is the queen almighty herself, Heather Chandler. Her color is red, which is the main color of the house Gryffindor. The main traits of a Gryffindor are described as daring, nerve, chivalry, and bravery. They’re also known for being short-tempered. During Ram’s party, after Veronica throws up and shares only a few sharp words, Heather declares that by Monday morning at 8 A.M., she’ll be an ex-somebody and suggests she transfers to a different school. This shows how quick it is to change the demon queen’s temper like a dime. Heather is also seen as brave time and time again. It’s shown how far she would go to protect her honor and reputation, along with occasionally doing the same to her friends. From the moment her and JD meet, they instantly share a hatred for each other. She tries to keep Veronica away from him, between stealing her away from his lunch table to trying to break them apart at the 7-11. Her bad feeling about him is almost like her way of attempting to stan up to him in an effort to protect Veronica. Her bravery and short temper, along with the hidden courage prove that Heather Chandler is a true Gryffindor.
Last but certainly not least, we have our dear friend Heather Duke. Her color is green, which is the main color of the Hogwarts house Slytherin. Slytherin traits include being ambitious, shrewd, cunning, strong leaders, and achievement- oriented with great senses of self-preservation. Heather Duke is truly a strong leader, although not quite immediate. After Heather Chandler’s death is announced, she immediately takes over her spot without hesitation. Over time, she ended up ditching her original green and changed to red to signal her leadership. She just waited until the attack was over. Just like the Slytherin animal, you could say she was like a snake. Another strong trait of her’s is her cunningness. A great example of this is when JD gives her the petition that needs the whole school’s signature. When questioned about it by Veronica, Heather Duke explains that “different people need different types of convincing.” This explicitly shows how she used all these different lies and methods to get what she needed most. The cunningness and strong leadership along are plenty enough to prove how Heather Duke is and always will be a Slytherin.
With all of this evidence, we can see that colors reflect personalities. While the first Harry Potter book came after the movie, anything is truly possible.
