Madoka Magica is a Magical Girl anime with a dark twist. It’s heart wrenching and beautiful, and I definitely recommend it! Of course I had to combine two of my favorite things. I’m also going off of the series’s plot for the most part, as I haven’t seen much of the movies yet.

Madoka Kaname as Veronica Sawyer

Madoka was a shy, kind, sweet schoolgirl who only really talked to her closest friends. Madoka eventually met Mami Tamoe, who introduced her to the magical girl society. I placed Madoka as Veronica because both girls were persuaded into a seemingly perfect lifestyle, which ends up being a very dark group and leads into a dark story. Madoka and Veronica are also clearly different then other magical girls/Heathers, and so they have the abilities and power to change the way things are. Madoka also becomes a God in a timeline, kinda like how Veronica took over at the end of Heathers.

Homura Akemi as Jason Dean

Homura was a dark, mysterious girl that never spoke much and was very distant to everyone except Madoka. She was a new transfer student and Madoka was immediately interested in her, as was everyone else. It turns out that Homura has the ability to switch to different timelines, and in one timeline she idolized Madoka (as Madoka introduced her to Magical girls). Madoka dies in that timeline and makes Homura promise her she’ll never let her become a magical girl again, and so Homura makes it her mission to try and stop Madoka from becoming a Magical girl in multiple timelines. I put Homura as JD because both are very close to the protag, and both are trying to persuade her to not the idolized group and rebel against them. Both are dark and mysterious, plus I ship Madoka and Homura pfff

Mami Tamoe as Heather McNamara

Mami Tamoe was the (seemingly) first magical girl Madoka met. Mami introduced Madoka (and Sayaka but shhh that doesn’t work in this AU) to the culture and process, as well as exposed her to the dark parts of it. Mami was a role model to Madoka, and Mami spent parts of her time trying to convince Madoka to become a magical girl. Mami later dies fighting a witch. I put Mami as Heather McNamara because both are very sweet girls who were just sucked into the wrong groups. Plus both have yellow color schemes :,v

Kyōko Sakura as Heather Duke

Kyōko was the last girl Madoka was introduced to in the series. She was called into the town by Kyubey to take over, and later got into a fight with Sayaka. Kyōko was a tough, athletic kind of girl. She’s also very loyal and protective over those she’s close to. Kyōko later reveals she came from a bad background. Kyōko also dies later on in the series. I put Kyōko as Heather Duke because both girls are first introduced as cold tough girls, but if you take the time to appreciate their characters you’ll see they’re really just misunderstood. Kyōko and Heather Duke are also kind girls who were just put in the wrong group.

Kyubey as Heather Chandler

Kyubey is an overpowered, all-knowing creature with multiple different bodies so it’s difficult/impossible to kill. Kyubey and Madoka have an immediate bond, as Kyubey offers her a wish and wants her to take it so she’ll become a magical girl as the side effect. Kyubey is constantly trying to persuade Madoka into becoming a magical girl, and is in a feud with Homura (Homura even attempts killing him). Kyubey is an evil being and is cruel and un-empathetic as he’s a different species and unworldly creature. I put Kyubey as Heather Chandler because both are trying to persuade the protag into ing their twisted groups.

Hitomi Shizuki as Martha Dunnstock

Hitomi was one of Madoka’s closest friends in the beginning (along with Sayaka but shHhhHh). Hitomi was kind and sweet, but was eventually left out after both Sayaka and Madoka became involved in the magical girl secret. Hitomi also has a crush on Kyōsuke, a boy that Sayaka also likes. Hitomi is also vulnerable. I put Hitomi as Martha because both girls are close friends to the protag, and both are later left out after the protagonists become involved with the groups. (Also Hitomi likes Kyōsuke and he’s Ram in this Au ahahahhahahahhah)

Sayaka Miki as Kurt Kelly

Sayaka Miki was one of Madoka’s closest friends, and is also introduced to magical girls with her. Sayaka is devastated by Mami’s death, and hates Homura. Sayaka is also close friends with a hospitalized boy, Kyōsuke, and has a crush on him. Sayaka is offered a wish by Kyubey, and she impulsively uses it to heal the boy. As a side affect, she basically sells her soul and becomes a magical girl. She hates the way of magical girls and so she becomes corrupted and dies becoming a witch. I don’t have much of a reason to put Sayaka as Kurt besides the fact of not having anyone else to put her as. Though, Sayaka is a bit flirty with Madoka, and both end up dying. I also ship Kram sooo,,,

Kyōsuke Kamijō as Ram Sweeney

Kyōsuke was an injured boy who loved music and playing his favorite instrument, though his illness meant he could never play it again. Kyōsuke was close friends with Sayaka, and he was very very frustrated that he couldn’t ever do what he enjoyed due to his condition. I put him as Ram for the same reason as Sayaka. Plus, Hitomi likes him as Martha likes Ram.
